When i tell people I'm planning to retire from my career next year the responses are split up into two groups that go something like this:
Camp A- "are you insane? You have a great job and you're too young! Your pension!!" Camp B- "about fucking time Katy, you belong among the wildflowers"
The thing is- both of those things are true. I am young (ish 😅), with a solid career in healthcare AND I belong among the wildflowers (and lakes and trails). I've made the most out of my 10 years in the system...15, including university 😳 and it is time LEAP!
I need to uncage my inner free bird and manifesting this next stage feels soul good.
For those asking me how I will do so- no secrets here.
It's been a blend of hard work and sacrifice. I've worked a minimum of two jobs since I was a teenager (sometimes 60+hrs/week) and I moved away from all my friends to the frozen North. I've lived in towns as small as 400 people (and learned how to play ice hockey there- fun!! I also took 6 years off of biking to work- not fun!). I'll continue to work multiple jobs all winter, contribute to my RRSP blah blah and practice minimalizing my life/budget. Come Spring, I'm done making the 'best of it', I am going to live the best of it.
