Last but certainly not least, is a cycle around the Anping district in Tainan City, Taiwan. Luckily we could use these bikes for free from our hostel saving💰We started the day off by visiting some of the popular attractions and sights, followed by a mystery tour to a port (found A LOT of people playing Pokemon go), and then to a beach. The second photo was of our cycle back to the hostel...we got caught out in the rain and were desperately trying to find a 7-eleven to get these ‘waterproofs’...if you’ve been anywhere in Asia you will know 🤣 You end up looking like you’re wearing a flavoured condom. Anyway, great reasons to bike in Tainan or Taiwan generally: 1. It’s really easy to navigate around and the roads are wide and clear. 2. There are street markets EVERYWHERE, meaning you can grab a snack on the go or take a little picnic in your basket (or a waterproof if you’re sensible). 3. You never know what you might find...one day we came across a brewery and stopped off to sample the beers! 🚲🇹🇼 #mytinyatlas#travel#bicycle#adventurebybike#lppathfinders#latergram#travelbug#adventureawaits#taiwan#tainan#traveltheworld#traveljournal#askmeanything

“Keep close to Nature’s heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.” - John Muir
A excerpt from one of my favorite adventurists on the importance of experiencing a location authentically, approaching travel with flexibility, and enjoying local flare! Check out her blog! https://justthe7ofus.blog/ “It’s hard to go wrong when you can be flexible, embrace a new area for what it has to offer, and focus on things that are fun and relaxing and a little adventurous all at once. This past weekend we tried things we hadn’t before. We signed up for a pottery class. We ate different cuisine every night. We rented a tandem bike for an afternoon. And my wife dragged me on to a hot air balloon. I definitely have a fear of heights, but I did it anyway because she wanted to. And don’t tell her but it wasn’t even that scary and I highly recommend it!” Time for an adventure!
Next up on my cycling memories, was an adventure along the Yulong River in Yangshuo, China. I’ve posted about this area previously and how we got lost. However, it was such a crazy day and getting lost/stuck added to the fun. We stayed at a hostel which was very close by to the river & they had another two hostels in the same region which we also stayed in. All with bikes to hire which comes in handy! Excellent points about this bike ride: 1. We picked up a friend along the way, he followed us for a really long time and eventually ran in to a family’s house and sat under their coffee table. They seemed to think he was ours so we quickly cycled off. 2. Incredible scenery...need I say more? 🚲🇨🇳 There was about an hour or so slot where we thought we would never make it back across the river, as we were lost and it was extremely muddy in places. Definitely won’t be forgetting that day! #mytinyatlas#travel#bicycle#adventurebybike#lppathfinders#latergram#travelbug#adventureawaits#yangshuo#wadahostel#china#traveltheworld#traveljournal#askmeanything#chinatrip#bicyclesup
One Tree Hill in Maleny, Queensland is a beautiful perch to take in the gorgeous Glass House Mountains below. Located on private property, it can be tricky to get to. Where’s your favorite hidden escape?
