Dealing with health issues when you’re active 7 days a week is mentally crippling. You feel like you’re doing everything right but your body still doesn’t cooperate. I can happily say that after almost three months of suffering I’m finally improving, albeit slowly. As a result, I’m heading off on my first solo hike in the Whites this weekend since the fall. And I couldn’t be more excited. Bring it on winter..Er, I mean spring!
The Sony A6500! Welcome to Euphoria!
I recently part-exchanged all of my photography gear for the Sony A6500 and two lenses. I was excitedly nervous about the swap, however, I was eager to get my hands on something completely new to my skillset.
Even in the early stages of using and learning a completely new system, I have gained a tool that will massively progress my photography and filmmaking career. (Link to the video in my bio)
If anyone is thinking of switching from a heavy and bulky DSLR to a compact lightweight mirrorless system, don’t think, just do. You won’t regret it. For a full-time travel creative, the mirrorless system is the way to go!
For camera buffs, I swapped 4 lenses and my 6D for;
Sony Carl Zeiss 16-70 f4
Sony 50mm f1.8
Using 4k 24fps and 1080 120fps.. this camera is a pure beast compared to the Canon 6D!
Having lugged around the 6D kit travelling… the Sony Mirrorless system is the way forward from now on!! (For the full breakdown of what I swapped, check the full video)
On the morning of day 5 we woke up to our bivys and tents coated in a thin layer of ice. To say it was cold would be an understatement. It actually delayed our start some to let everything and everyone thaw out.
Like something out of the Hoth planet in Star Wars. Quite a different scene than when I was out here in January (scroll down to see the January situation 😋). Finally got some pow pow, and me without my skis 🎿 😞
As women I think we too often fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others. Perhaps especially as moms, we compare ourselves not only to how other women look, or what they have accomplished, or their lifestyles but we also compare our kids to other children as well. Are my kids as smart or as well behaved as hers? Can they recite Hamlet or ski a black diamond at age three? Do they eat five servings of organic vegetables and spend six hours in the sunshine each day?
Here on instagram or other social media it is easy to follow so many different accounts and end up bundling all the women we see into one “superwoman.” We pick the best qualities from each woman and create a false standard that melds all of them together. We think we have to do ALL the things and have ALL the things and be ALL the things, and forget the reality that each of us has our own strengths and weaknesses. That mom with the perfect hair and makeup might not have made a single summit this year. Those toddlers who can hike 15 miles on their own might need to work on their temper tantrums. Those perfect, smile-filled squares may not show the messy house and fast food dinner at home. None of us are perfect, and none of us are without our own brightness either. Remember who YOU are and what you bring to the table. Yes, we should always work to be the best version of ourselves—that is a lifelong effort—but remember that YOU ARE STRONG. You have immeasurable worth in your children’s eyes and in God’s eyes. You are just who you need to be for YOUR family. No one can love them or be loved by them like you can. You are doing it, mama. Life. And you are rocking it.
Whatever you decide to do this weekend, do it with purpose! As the wise words of my BFF say, “today is a gift and that’s why they call it the present.” 🎁🎁🎁 Enjoy the weekend! #AdventureCulture#RFAbrand

When you’re younger, believing in magic seems to come so naturally. The ephemeral is never far during hot summer days in a tree house hidden in the woods or winter nights below the silent stars. With age, these fairy tales you knew to be true grow more remote, fading into the nothing... believing in magic now becomes a choice. Now I choose to believe in a deeper magic- one that rolls through the hills, crawls silently through the dirt and ignites my fingertips. Whatever your magic these days, may it be a good one and may you always choose to believe. 💫🌟✨
