“Fear no more the heat o’ the sun” #longpostalert
Fear no more the heat o’ the sun,
Nor the furious winter’s rages;
Thou thy worldly task hast done,
Home art gone, and ta’en thy wages:
Golden lads and girls all must,
As chimney-sweepers, come to dust.
Famous lines by William Shakespeare (from Cymbeline) are rational for all in final years of college, especially my people at LDCE who also know about this chimney which I call the WISDOM CHIMNEY or ज्ञान मीनार.Almost all of us were wondering when we entered the campus; what was this chimney doing here in the institute? If you still have the question, see #History
. It is the symbol of LD and will remind us the wisdom we received throughout the college life.
The final year LDians(LD-elites) have heated themselves for years in the chimney and are now blazing smoke to reach the heights of the sky. All of us were together for this period of time, bounded by the circular walls of love and friendship; together tightly bounded in this funnel. Soon we will be free to see the open sky, full of dreams. None can predict where we would be in future, where would the winds take us. Everyone has different directions. Would we be together enjoying the breeze or these furious winds will sweep us into the unknown? Fear. Nervousness. Thrill. Excitement. Total Uncertainty.
But fear no more Golden lads and girls, an open sky waits for you. Giving a chance to expand to the fullest potential. Let your odour spread far and near and it will reach you and me. Having burnt to ashes and dust Let the fire bird within be free and rise like a Phoenix.

There were 15 working steam boilers in LDCE during 1950s till 1970s, the chimney belongs to one such steam boiler fired by coal, today these boilers are not in working condition;some are running and use other chimneys; but this chimney is still there. The top of the chimney broke due to 2001 earthquake. Till 2013 you could go under the chimney and look from inside. Later it was sealed.
