What does it mean to have your game on every single day? To me, it means doing the best YOU can do everyday. It means to show up. It means to smile when you don’t want to. It means to not miss a beat. It means to take advantage of every opportunity. It means to make everyone feel important. It means it’s not about me. It means to be grateful for every moment. It means living today as if you’re not seeing tomorrow.
You see, eight years ago, my life completely changed when I was diagnosed with a condition called endometriosis. That was after suffering with undetectable abdominal pain for three years and continuously being misdiagnosed. The Ramadan of that year was a true turning-point for me as my health was greatly tested. As I was about to be wheeled in for a completely unexpected surgery, I realized that if this doesn’t change me, nothing will. So I prayed long and hard on that hospital bed for God to make a better person out of me.
I didn’t know what’s ahead, but I was done making excuses. I was ready to stop justifying those things that were keeping me away from my best self in the eyes of God. So I just cried, “Labayk! Here I am for You.” Don’t wait to be tested to bring your A-game. Just bring it. Here’s to another game-changing birthday. Alhamdullilah! 🎂
