His faces never get old. 😂🤨
This boy has been keeping us on our toes, and bringing whole new meaning to the term ANXIETY since the day he was born.
We had another allergy scare today, luckily it didn’t turn into anything serious, but man it sure makes the anxiety of basic everyday eating that much worse. 😬
When we’re home, he is sheltered and we have a lot of control over what he eats. It’s when we run to town, he goes to someone’s house, or when we are away that it is just hard. Every fast food place, every restaurant, every stinking meal, consists of asking for the allergen menu, (which most the time they don’t have) to looking at the ingredients on the box, talking to the chef, hoping it’s something he can eat, and praying that there’s not any cross contamination in the process. There is no such thing as eating quick with us anymore. I never could’ve dreamed how stressful eating could be for those with allergies. Something so basic yet vital, and most don’t even think twice about it.
The hardest part though? Knowing that he’s different and will have to miss out on things. And him knowing that too. He’s just beginning to understand that he can’t have certain foods. He will say “no peanuts, no eggs.” It’s so cute but breaks my heart at the same time.
Like many things, once you’ve lived through something tough, you have so much more compassion and sympathy for those who have also dealt with it. Everyone is fighting different battles, and if anything, I’ve learned to give people a whole lot more grace. There are battles others are facing each day that are just tough, and some that we may never even know about.
I’m thankful for amazing family and friends who watch out for my baby like we do. Love them so much, ❤️ And also for the other allergy/preemie mamas I’ve met along our journey. We never have to face our trials alone. 🙏🏼
Sometimes you just have to make the classics (with my twist of course). Ground Turkey meatloaf, garlic peas and garlic mashed potatoes (with almond milk). #noeggsnomilknogluten
February 2018–> December 2018. I love a good muscle gains transformation this time of year! 🙌🏻🙌🏻😂😂 If I can say one thing to you this holiday season.. before the New year comes.. Stop waiting to "get motivated" to get started 💪 💪I can't make you motivated. 💪No one person or no one thing can MOTIVATE you.
People and external sources, can of course inspire you...but those things aren't what get you moving consistently.
What happens when those things aren't there to "motivate" you? You just don't do anything? 💙Only YOU can motivate yourself💙
Think about it! The last time you got into the habit of working out or eating well...you felt great...then you took 1 day off...turned into 2 and then into a week.
How much harder is it to get BACK to that habit?
Stop looking for motivation to drop into your lap. It's not going to! Just like your booty or other muscles don't tone up or get stronger overnight either. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ The more you show up for yourself, the more motivated you become 💪
If you need some help getting motivated, I’m here for you!
I 💚 a good @waitroseandpartners

🍀 The first time we brought our little guy to Ireland he was only 5 months old. At this time, the (Irish) hubby and I had dreams of going back to Ireland every year so that our son could bond with his overseas family. We also talked about spending a year there before the kiddo started school, hopping cheap flights to sexy European countries on a whim. ✈🌍 See, allergies hadn't come into our life just yet. We hadn't started our baby boy on solids, and we were 2 months away from his first reaction (to peanut butter). And little did we know, he'd have a total of 6 allergies within a year from the time this photo was taken. After allergies made an appearance, our European travel plans seemed challenging, if not impossible. How could we travel with a baby/toddler with multiple allergies? And how would we stay at our in-laws' home when half the food in their pantry would pose a real danger to our son? We imagined we'd spend more time inconveniencing everyone and stressing about everything than having fun. 😢 So we stopped talking about our travel plans for a long, long time. But after our son outgrew 2 of his allergies, the idea started to feel more do-able. Still stressful and scary... but do-able. So guess what! We finally returned to Ireland just last week (2.5 years later, but it felt like an eternity). I'm happy to report that things went really, really well. 👍 Not only is Ireland GREAT about labelling allergens on products and in menus, but the hubby's family were AMAZING. It was a HUGE learning curve for them, but they did great and tried their very best to understand and make accommodations. This week, I'll share some posts about our experience as well as the things I learned about food allergies in Ireland. (Did you know they have 14 top allergens over there?!) Have you been to Europe with allergies? How was it??

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is hosting a Christmas Cookie Exchange party each year. I’ve been hosting them for about 8 years now, and every year I make more Gingerbread and Sugar Cookies than I can count. This year my boys have been super into helping, which is fine by me!

I’ve done it! Did it mostly on my own this year as we’ve got a lot of housework to do 😱 anyway, tree done with a few new additions from our most recent trip ❤️🎄
I’m trying to feel festive but right now I feel tired. I have lots of worries this Christmas, not just making sure X doesn’t get overwhelmed with the festivities but, it was in December last year X had his first peanut reaction (on Christmas Eve)- he had previously been ok with peanuts. I’m hopeful we can make it through the festive season reaction free 🤞🏻having a reaction ‘anniversary’ coming up also feels kinda odd. It’s been a year since we had all the panic and thoughts/feelings- and everything that follows. So much has changed in that time. Do you track your reaction anniversaries?! I guess with time we will forget, but for now, we will just hold him a little tighter. #christmas #christmastree #allergies #allergyawareness #allergymama #allergytoddler #allergylife #allergyaware #festivefeels #tree #baubles #reactionanniversary #mumlife
At total PEACE with the FACT that I’ll never be a “Pinterest mom”💁🏼♀️ .
I’m more of a “drink WINE🍷 while the boxed mix cookies bake, and try not to break a leg on the sprinkles covering the floor” 🙋🏼♀️😂👌🏻🤷🏼♀️ and I’m OK with that!!!
My girl and I had FUN decorating cookies tonight!! Even if it did require 30 minutes in the grocery store reading ingredients & labels to find ones that are allergy-friendly ❤️ .

I know how hard it is to look in the mirror and feel defeated. To feel that enormous disappointment of not having self-control, or letting food and lack of motivation win ALL THE TIME. To feel overwhelmed by the journey ahead or even succumb to the idea of staying that way. ✌🏻 It’s hard AF, not gonna lie! 🤷🏻♀️ But I’m here to tell you that those feelings can quickly vanish when you commit. 💄Conventional makeup contains chemicals, oils and other additives that can either irritate sensitive skin or cause unnecessary breakouts. (Most of the cheaper foundations on the market have a list of ingredients that potentially harmful to your skin!!) Mineral makeup is the safest because it adheres to the natural oils in your skin and doesn't seep into the pores. Mineral foundation allows your skin to breathe while still offering protection.
💄You can mix the mineral foundation with moisturizers and cremes to make a liquid foundation consistency if that's what you like. You can conceal with it or just use it as a light coverage. Loose powder mineral pigments can turn into anything you can think of. The loose powder pigments are what companies use to color cosmetics. Savvy Minerals carries these loose powder pigments with no additives, fillers, or dyes!
💄This month my continuing education for my team will focus on oils for skincare (hello, winter!) + more on why using Savvy Minerals is great for your face👌🏼Still not sure (yet) if oils are your thing?! Did you know you can grab a Savvy Minerals Kit, enjoy 24% and allll the member benefits when you join? (Check out my ‘make-up’ stories highlight to see what comes in the kit!)
I spent the day at the hospital with Ms. Mae today. She has multiple allergies which started showing up as soon as she started eating real foods around 6 months. Her very first reaction was to yogurt covered strawberry melts, my mama gut knew that it was the dairy, but our pediatrician told us it was likely strawberry and not to worry. Another dairy episode landed us back in the pediatricians office and she told us again that a dairy allergy was unlikely and that we should continue giving it to her. 👹 || her reactions went from a small rash, to full body hives and face swelling. It had gotten so severe that if anyone ate dairy and then touched her, she would break out. At that point, I self-diagnosed her with a dairy allergy... and cut dairy out of our diets. Her reactions continued and I ended up cutting egg out as well. We had a few months go by on an extremely restricted diet with no reactions, and slowly I began to breathe easier. Today, she is 15 months old and we’ve finally begun to get some answers. Margot had a skin-prick test which confirmed a wide range of serious allergies (egg, dairy, and peanuts), and we were sent home with an epipen. Although the confirmation of so many #allergies
is kind of hard to come to terms with, my faith in the “mama-gut” is renewed, and ultimately... knowledge is power.
First day back at work after two weeks off. Morning was a disaster my 21 month old alarm clock broke 🤷🏻♀️ we had to wake him!! Still, I have this gorgeous necklace to wear today thanks to @bearandbunnycraft
which is run by one of my favourite allergy accounts @the_freefrom_mummies
! Definitely go and check her out, she’s a lovely lady & posts fantastic content.
I had to pick this up as a little treat for myself. Being an allergy mama is definitely a badge of honour that I should wear with pride.
Ok, so it’s not the path we would have chosen for our families but it’s the path we walk & we should hold our heads high about all the awesome things we have to be when we are forced to become allergy mamas. I mean, all mamas are awesome, and in the past I’ve hated labelling myself but there is something about this ‘allergy mama’ that I feel so connected to. X’s allergies take up so much of my headspace, I can’t just turn them off when I fancy a break. I can’t take -high allergy alert- and turn it off because my baby needs me to keep him safe. Even when he is in his #nutfree
nursery I still worry about cross contamination or his friends eating peanut butter toast before they come in and give him a hug, as well as all the other things a mum with a baby at nursery worries about.
There is so much as an allergy family which I feel like we can’t do (or takes at least twice the amount of time & anxiety to do), but sometimes you have to step away from the negatives proactively and celebrate the things we can do & remind ourselves of the pride we should feel facing these challenges for our little ones ❤️ On another note, please shop small where you can, especially in this festive season. Every time you buy from a small business a real person does a happy dance & a real family get a boost, you don’t get that feel good factor with amazon!

What's your favourite allergy friendly recipe or cooking hack?
Mine had to be our amazing vegan chocolate cake, adapted from an old family recipe and made using apple sauce instead of eggs.
So X’s advent calendar this year is definitely #allergyfriendly
we wrapped up 24 books last year for him, and we will use these same books again this year- I’ve not got round to wrapping them yet (not sure I’ll bother tbh 🤷🏻♀️🤦♀️🤫) as living under a pile of post holiday laundry & suffering with a nasty cold- but we will get there eventually! 😂 #mumlife #allergymama #advent #christmas #december
Thieves- We use Thieves for almost everything. First thing we do when we wake up is roll Thieves on our feet for immunity especially during flu season! We clean our entire house with Thieves, my husband and I use Thieves Toothpaste, Thieves floss, Thieves mints and put a drop or two of the oil in our immunity tea! We also love Thieves hand sanitizer and laundry detergent! Thieves is such a great oil and we love the Thieves line of products. Definitely a must for us for every day use. Thieves was one of the best things I found to switch and ditch to non toxic cleaning.

Another 80 days of home workouts first thing in the morning, in my workout room or living room. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 If you don’t know this was my 3rd round. 240 days out of this year I was committed to this program!
I I shared a bit of my journey this morning on my stories so check it out. But when I finally decide to do something, I do it .... 'til the death. The interesting thing about this decision - I never once dreaded a workout. I enjoyed the whole process. So much so, that I didn't want it to end. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 That's the weird part about this whole thing - in the beginning I wasn't sure I wanted to commit to 80 days. In the end, I ended up doing 240 days of it! 😱🙌🏻 Sometimes you just have to get started. You have to push out all the other thoughts + doubts and just put one foot in front of the other.
The more action you take -- the more motivated you feel.
Women: we can do this. Your body deserves it. Your family needs you to be healthy & happy! You will AMAZE yourself! The decision is yours. Let me hand you the tools to transform your life! 🙋🏼 Let's continue to root for one another!
We’re proud to make the list of allergy-friendly businesses!
Repost from @allergybites
. . .
🌠Allergy-friendly business spotlight! 🌠 From the time I first heard allergy-aware babysitters were a thing, I've been happy to shout from the rooftops about what a great resource @weneeddatenight
is for local allergy parents. 👍 First, I got to interview some of their allergy-friendliest sitters for a series I was working on (bit.ly/allergy-aware-babysitters-1), then they agreed to help out at #AllergyMom
Meetups... and, well, the rest is history. 😉 Seeing that allergy parents often find it difficult to leave their littles behind with someone they trust, it is HUGE when you actually find trusted care. And coming from a mama who has pretty much thrown #selfcare
out the window, having an option like this gives me the freedom to put myself (and my relationship) first... sometimes! 😘😘 #weneeddatenighttoo
The truth is, bcause my little guy has always been a baaaad sleeper, we only booked one of Datenight's sitters for the first time this fall. I loved the entire process: (a) browsing through a list of capable caregivers in my area, (b) conducting a Skype interview, (c) booking a sitter, and (d) seeing my son's happy, smiling face when the hubs and I came home from our afternoon date. 💖 Thrilled that allergy-aware care actually exists! And with the holiday season just around the corner, I thought you would be too. 😍 (FYI, Datenight Babysitting is currently available in Toronto and Ottawa.)
P.S. From now until the end of 2018, AllergyBites discount cardholders can sign up for a membership and enjoy $1 off each month. That’s equivalent to 2 months free if you sign up for a full year! (More info here 👉 bit.ly/browse-and-buy)

Another yummy from @victoriaparkmkt
- fruits of the forest cake. Pop in tomorrow if you’re close by. -I probably will! 🙈 It’s a nice Sunday afternoon out (although my wallet takes a hit!) And they always have some goodies! With oatly single cream alternative.
Trader Joe’s flowers always get me ♥ Did you know you can add 1-2 drops of Purification to flower arrangements to promote longevity? Adding a few drops so I can keep this holiday arrangement as long as I can 🎄
How much longer do you plan on sitting on the sideline and watching me? How many more transformations do you need to see to believe the fitness and nutrition tools I have WORK?! Today is your LAST day to get HUGE savings on the tools that helped me lose 85 lbs. 😱😱 Like HUGE savings. $11.60 a month to be exact. 🤷🏻♀️ So- How about trust me for 30 days and I promise you, you won’t go back to your old ways! 💕
Want more info or finally ready to start your journey? Drop a 💪🏻 below and let’s go you started!
Apple crumble cake from @victoriaparkmkt
single cream alternative. Both the cake and the cream were yummy. I was hoping to make custard with it but it was too much effort after a long day. I had just about cleaned up and sorted things out after putting the little one to bed, did my prayers and sat down with cake and 45 mins of Fantastic beasts and where to find them. We’ll try custard on another day
This girl right here is one of my biggest reasons WHY! ♡ What’s your motivator to ditch and switch to a non toxic life?
When I first got started with Young Living a few years ago I was so scared to use anything! I consistently used Lavender, a few of the kids line oils and not much besides that. One day when my life was in shambles, I was broken and tired of living the same way, I finally jumped in. Not stepped in but full on jumped in with all I had. All of me was in and I felt in my heart that God was saying “Hey, you can do this.” “Trust me.” After months of prayers, doing research after research, meeting with my enroller non stop, I took one of the biggest steps I could take and started a new journey with sharing my love and passion of oils. I have always been the kind of person that has to stay in my comfort box. I don’t want to annoy anyone, seem like I don’t know what I’m talking about or not be accepted.... I was scared of failing. What if we let go of the thought of failure? Let go of the thought of fear? Pursued our passion with a full force? Trusted God with everything? I share my love for oils because it’s changed my life. It’s changed my daughters life and my husbands life. Every single day in almost everything we do we use oils. It’s helped my healing journey, my mental health journey and beyond. It’s something that I truly have passion for and want to share this healing journey with others. I’m sharing with you because it’s something I full heartedly believe in and I want that for you too. If you’re scared of failing, if you’re scared of just saying “yes” to switching to a non toxic life but don’t know where to start, if you’re scared of what to do.... STOP! Put your fear aside and take the leap. I’m here with you every step of the way. I’m so glad I decided to take that leap and I hope you will too!
This used to represent Christmas to me. Yup, a bowl of nuts. It's not even that I particularly liked the taste -- It was just something that came out during the holidays. With an old-fashioned nutcracker, of course! And as a kid, it was fun. So when my son was diagnosed with multiple allergies (including tree nuts), I felt bad and sad that I had to ask my mom to not only refrain from putting out the traditional bowl of nuts, but to rethink her Christmas baking, since most of her recipes contained nuts. She willingly obliged (blog post about her experience as an @allergynana
coming soon!), but it still was a bit of an adjustment to have to change our traditions. Now that my son is no longer allergic to tree nuts, I can safely keep this bowl in my home -- out of his reach, though, as we have to wash the shell before cracking them open due to possibility of them having come into contact with peanuts. Needless to say, I was super excited when I saw this bag of mixed nuts at my local grocer. I'm a stickler for tradition, I guess. What's a holiday tradition that your family had to adapt or remove to keep your food-allergic kiddos safe?

have a lovely lady selling #vegan
cakes. I bought this coffee one even though I don’t drink coffee, I like most coffee cakes and tiramisu. It was yummy. Check them out if you’re in the area. They also have a nut cheese stall and some other vegan food stalls. I enjoyed a cinnamon roll from @crosstowndoughnuts
which was also vegan, soya and nut free, it didn’t last the journey home, so no pic unfortunately 🙈🙊
Finally tried @oatly
barista. It’s definitely an improvement on the original but I find I much prefer @kokodairyfree
for both cereal and tea. Koko bechamel is not great though, so I might try it with this or the single cream oatly.
