“When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.” - Wendell Berry
Feeling free and light and full of beauty after a day hike in @mountrainiernps
. Our view of Mount Rainer was impeded by the smoke from forest fires around Washington, Oregon and BC, but if you squint you can see her! Not sure I’ll ever get over the fact that this is a mere 60ish miles from where I live now— and definitely not sure how I lived the first 20 or so years of my life without climbing up into the mountains every weekend. 10/10 would recommend, y’all. 💗 hope you had a beautiful Sunday and enjoyed some nature, big or small! #findyourpark #mountrainiernationalpark #maggieonamountain #maggieinseattle
