Fall vibes with a hot cappuccino and words on this chilly Monday 🍂
I haven’t posted much in the past month or so, mainly because I got a new job and the only time I could write was at night. Poor light = not the most aesthetically pleasing photos, let’s be honest. 😬
I’m spending my lunch break today at a Starbucks so that means I’m writing! In the daylight hours! It’s good to be back.
My beloved story begs to be told even though it comes to me slowly. I lost a bit of hope trying to juggle my passion for writing and making a living in the past couple of months (I haven’t quite connected the two yet), but I'm told this is normal. The road isn’t always paved, and that’s okay. Writing a book is more like creating footprints in fresh snow. An untouched path. You only know for certainty the steps you’ve already taken, not the steps you’re going to take. It’s a comfort sometimes to look back on how far you’ve come, because that’s when the hope usually comes back. 🙂
Sending you happy writerly vibes 🖋
Just a reminder to keep writing! Where you start is *not* where you'll end😉 Be encouraged!

Want to hear something truly terrifying? We've got one more retreat left this month and then we're into the last lot of the year. Time sure flies when you're busy mainlining tea and flapping about your word count.

Day 22 is your #MC #Superstitious
? Salvia is a bit superstitious. Before her fiance sailed off into the sea she made offerings to her God of the Water, a Kraken named Calamar, to keep the seas calm and her sailor safe on his journey.
YES! When I'm curious about a scene or a characters backstory or future scenes just before bed, I end up dreaming about them that night. Sometimes they are fun and interesting, other times it's just plain weird or creepy.

Speaking of serials... 🐾 The 738 page monster that is #Fearless
started life as a four-part serial, released in the fall of 2014. I started writing it out of spite after my fic was plagiarized, but quickly got sucked into the process. Those initial releases were tiny by comparison, but I had excited readers, and they felt huge at the time. Surreal, almost. Two million words later, and, wow, it feels so often like I go nowhere fast, but SO MUCH has happened in the world of this series since the very first Part One. Thanks for coming along on the ride, everyone. ❤️ There's more to come. 🐊🐾#amwriting #writerslife #DartmoorSeries #LeanDogsMC #books #series #bikers #outlaw #familydrama #darkreads #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #contemporaryfiction #LordHaveMercy #author #authorsofinstagram #bookworm #bibliophile
Book update! So as I mentioned a little while ago, I am going to be publishing my first children’s book soon and I want to start telling you a little bit more about it.
Lost Property is about a place where all the lost items in the world end up, and a boy called Ben who finds himself there on Christmas Eve, while looking for a model aeroplane that he built with his granddad. He meets Rodney Treacle, an elf in a lime green suit who promises to help him. From the dizzy heights of Umbrella Mountain to the creepy aisle of socks, they search all over Lost Property, but when the aisles start to shrink and boxes explode, Ben begins to wonder if someone is out to get him. -
As things start to come together I will post more quotes and more illustrations and you can follow @onegraydot
for even more sneak peeks! Scroll across to see an early character sketch of Ben. .

No filter on the bright blue sky as I lay in the hammock (bundled up) trying to work out a vexing plot kink. #fallyall
An afternoon at B&N with my writer bestie Niki: talking NaNoWriMo outlines and books we’ve loved. 📚
I was at a roadblock with my plot after doing some research where I discovered a timeline complication. Good news though, I’m pretty sure we figured out a way through the complication while wandering the aisles of books! 📚

A room without books is like a body without a soul
Welcome to this week's Mythic Monday. Today we are taking a look at the Banshee.
"The banshee -- Irish: Bean Sidhe; Scots Gaelic: Ban Sith -- originally meant a woman of the fairies. She was a woman who had supernatural abilities, according to myth. She would release a loud, wailing scream that was believed to predict the death of a family member of the person who has heard it. But where did the banshee come from?"

One design is done! I love how it turned out. This is one of my favorite quotes from the book. Biddy says it to her best friend, Jo, when Jo wakes her up early(ish) for a beach run during their graduation trip. Jo doesn’t get her coffee...but Ian does. 😜
You can check out my my instagram story today to see how I painted it! Do you want one? Head over to my website and send me a note with your address! Website is in the bio.

What people think writing a book looks like versus what writing a book actually looks like (a lot of outlining) 🖋🖋 #amwriting
So long LA. You were chill. Just like my kind-hearted Uber driver
It was his second day on the job and he said he’d already gotten a few complaints that his car smelled like pot.
He was from Queens. He loved LA. He would’ve never met his girlfriend if he hadn’t moved there. He told me he was trying to make it in the music industry. He’d worked with Kanye a few times. Back home, his mom has bone cancer. He wants her to visit him in November so that he can show his apartment to her.
Halfway through the ride on the 10, he started heading into the lanes for the 405 to San Fernando until I said, “Is this the way to Santa Monica?”
He moseyed the Prius over to a narrow strip and waited until he could get into the lanes for Santa Monica. He said, “I miss a lot of turns. The glare is so bad.”
I said, “Maybe you could turn up the phone volume and let the voice guide you.“ He said, “That’s a good idea.”

"Could I be any more mortified?" She resorted to the only thing her emergency toolbox could muster - a Chandlerism - whilst flapping her arms maniacally as though she were hoping to take off in flight. What she really wanted was the ground to open up and swallow her. Why was he not saying anything? Why were her arms still flapping? He held her gaze in all seriousness and then, just as she was about to pass out from the embarrassment; his face eased up and he smiled. "Honestly, that has made my day," he said. "I'm sorry for putting you on the spot, I just couldn't help myself. Bloody hilarious. I don't care if you print a few pages of your personal sh*t - you do good work." He walked over toward her holding out the printed paper. She took it from him, still struggling to come down from the blood rush. "See you at the board?" he asked. "You betcha," she replied. He chuckled again and left the room. She was reeling. You betcha? You
betcha? WTF brain, she thought, you are really

Picked up this little novel in the nonfiction section of the library—the subject is Vermeer, of whom I am an avid admirer. I’ll be reading this after I’ve finished Tess of the D’ubervilles ✨
"A strange sense of guilt—no—was it shame? It was a myriad of emotions that had accompanied these memories, though for the life of her, she wasn’t sure why. It certainly wasn’t her fault any of this was happening. She knew that from a rational perspective. But somehow, she felt—and it was as if her mind almost paused to sigh deeply—ashamed that this was all taking place." - from EscapingHim.com
One of main characters in the book I'm working on for #nanowrimo
🤗 she is my favorite thus far. Shes fisesty, stubborn and but cares deeply for the ones she loves.
Currently working on the first few chapters before November! Can't wait to share more!😘 #NovelVow
