---------------------------------------- #NAPOLI #storiadinapoli #storia #Borbone #medioevo #cittaantiche #napoliantica #neaples #napoles #ancientneaples #ancient #ancientlife #history #historyneaples #ancienthistory #ancientpics #Neapolis #fotoantichenapoli #ancientpicsneaples #neaplesbaia #golfodinapoli #ancientculture #igersnapoli #napoligreca #porta capuana #edicolasangennaro

Armenia- the art of making carpets. Rug weaving has been part of the Armenian culture since prehistoric times. According to renowned rug Scholar Ulrich Schurmann the earliest known existing rug, known as the Pazyryk, circa 500 B.C., was in all probability woven by ancestors of the Armenians, the Urartuans (the people of Ararat). . . . . . . . . #rug #carpet #ancientcarpet #armeniancarpet #travel #travelarmenia #yerevantourism #ancientculture #traveller #travelling #armeniatourism #travelphotography #travelblogger #traveladdict #viaje #viajar #viajearmenia #viajerosporelmundo 🌎 #trip #armenianrugs #ancientrugs #handmadecarpet

As we commemorate and remember the #worldwar1 #centenary , it seemed apt to show you that in Nepal, prayer flags are put up to remember and honour the deceased and also to help people stay safe on their travels. Here's our guide Kumar adding to prayer flags in remembrance of the chief of Dolpo, whose horse tripped and fell off the narrow path and tumbled with him into the ravine below. Everyone who treks past this place where he fell puts up prayer flags to honour his spirit. . #featuredocumentaryfilm #film #documentary #children #himalayas #separated #family #education #trek #mountains #reunited #love #adventure #nepal #himalaya #ancientculture #remote #offgrid #youth #filmfestival #featuredocumentary #picoftheday #exploretheworld #travelwithpurpose #differentcultures #prayerflags

————————————-🇬🇧 Much like Mesopotamia, the names Tigris and Euphrates were later Greek terms the Sumerians themselves did not use. The Sumerians called the Tigris the Idigina, “fast river,” because it moved quickly. More agriculturally useful was the slower-moving Euphrates, which they called the Buranuna, “great river.” Although both rivers were essential to ancient Mesopotamian civilization, most early cities were settled along the Euphrates. #ancientculture #ancientmesopotamia #ancientrome #ancientgreece #ancientanatolia #ancienthistory #ancientart #ancientreligion #ancientworld #arthistory #archaeology #archaeologist #human #world #time #sumer #akad #babylon #assyrian #persian #egypt #rome #greece #antiktarih #arkeoloji #sanattarihi #antik #tarih #prehistory #history
"Deutsche Bank", radici napoletane. #NAPOLI #storiadinapoli #storia #Borbone #medioevo #cittaantiche #napoliantica #neaples #napoles #ancientneaples #ancient #ancientlife #history #historyneaples #ancienthistory #ancientpics #Neapolis #fotoantichenapoli #ancientpicsneaples #neaplesbaia #golfodinapoli #ancientculture #igersnapoli #napoligreca #bancameridionale
Görsel: Augustus’un eşi Livia ———————————🇬🇧 Most of the famous women of ancient Rome were connected to the important political families of the late Republic and the empire. Some of these leading ladies included Cornelia (second century b.c.e.), daughter of the famous general Scipio Africanus and mother of the political reformers the Gracchi; Livia (58 b.c.e.–29 c.e.), wife of Augustus; and Agrippina the Younger (15–59), wife of Claudius and mother of Nero. Julia Domna (ca. 167–217), wife of the emperor Septimius Severus, was perhaps the most honored woman during the Roman Empire. She received the title “Mother of the Fatherland,” and statues of her were put up around Rome. During the third century, she and her sister, Julia Maesa, and her niece, Julia Mamaea, played a large role in running imperial affairs. #ancientculture #ancientmesopotamia #ancientrome #ancientgreece #ancientanatolia #ancienthistory #ancientart #ancientreligion #ancientworld #arthistory #archaeology #archaeologist #human #world #time #sumer #akad #babylon #assyrian #persian #egypt #rome #greece #antiktarih #arkeoloji #sanattarihi #antik #tarih #prehistory #history

The Skeleton dance is a sacred Tibetan dance ritual found in Himalayan Buddhist lineages. It is intended to reflect the transient nature of things, including states of mind and the body itself. The monk pictured in the above photo, taken in 1925, seems to be performing the dance known as Durdak Garcham, “Dance of the Lords of the Cemetery.” The dance celebrates the liberation that comes from acceptance of our impermanence. . The skeletons depicted in the dance are Chitipati, a pair of lovers known as the Lord and Lady of the charnel ground whose dance represents the eternal dance of death, as well as the attainment of perfect consciousness. They are worldy guardians, They are typically depicted as skeletons, each with a third eye of wisdom, holding scepters made of human heads and spines in one hand and a blood-filled kapala, sometimes with a still warm brain inside, in the other hand. . The Lord and Lady can usually be distinguished from other skeleton deities by the crowns with five small human skulls, as well as the fan-shaped ornaments on their ears. They represent a “dynamic vision of death and transformation” and a “joyous freedom from attachment” rather than “morbid pessimism” as the imagery conveys in Western societies. . #ancientculture #culturetrip #historyinpictures #natgeotravel #wanderlust #anthropology #asiatrip #asiatravels #sonya7iii #exploreculture #monks #buddhatemple #ancientart #ancientdance #himalayas #solotravel #solowanderer #solowanderlust ❤️🌎

Sky burial. With wood scarce and the ground frozen for long periods, there are practical as well as religious reasons for the disposal of the dead by air or sky burial. At this stage, the flesh has been cut off the bones and is being fed to the vultures. The bones are similarly disposed of after being crushed and mixed with barley flour. Cremation was mostly reserved for high lamas, burial for babies and those dying of infectious diseases. Only the most important religious figures, the Dalai Lamas and the Panchen Lamas were embalmed and placed in stupas. Though air burial has a brutal aspect, considerable effort is expended in ceremonies to assist the consciousness of the departed into and through the bardo, the intermediate state between death and a new rebirth. WHAT WAS BEFORE THE ROMANS IN THE IBERIAN PENINSULA? (C. XI - III A.C) . . 1- CELTAS 2- LUSOS 3- TARTESOS 4- VASCONES 5- CULTURA TALAYOTICA 6- CELTIBEROS 7- IBEROS . 🇬🇧 . Before the romans invaded the Iberian Peninsula, the area looked as shown in the picture. . Indoeuropean cultures crossed the Pirineos, settled along the Peninsula and mixed with the local cultures already existed. . Fenicians also got into the peninsula from the south, had a big influence on Tartessos' civilization, and started to occupy the Iberian and Celtibera areas. . #historylover #historylesson #ancienthistory #ancientculture #iberian #celtic #spaintravel #portugal_places #islasbaleares #historian #historicalplace #phoenician #travelbook #map_of_europe #mediterranean #mediterráneo #mediterrani #romans #lusso #cultures #culturalheritage #ancientart #unescoworldheritagesite #civilization #ancientworld
Maya writing was called "hieroglyphics" or hieroglyphs by early European explorers of the 18th and 19th centuries who did not understand it but found its general appearance reminiscent of Egyptian hieroglyphs, to which the Maya writing system is not at all related. -------------------------------------- #NAPOLI #storiadinapoli #storia #Borbone #medioevo #cittaantiche #napoliantica #neaples #napoles #ancientneaples #ancient #ancientlife #history #historyneaples #ancienthistory #ancientpics #Neapolis #fotoantichenapoli #ancientpicsneaples #neaplesbaia #golfodinapoli #ancientculture #igersnapoli #napoligreca #palazzodoriadangri #piazzasettesettembre
——————————🇬🇧 The location of the city of Rome was paramount to the empire’s success. Rome’s geographical position allowed for protection, sea access, freshwater, and suitable land. The Apennine Mountains extended across the southeast of Rome and stretched north, protecting it from invaders coming from Europe. The steep banks of the Tiber River, upon which Rome was built, also provided protection against invaders. In addition, the Tiber flowed into the Mediterranean Sea, providing Rome with an excellent port that allowed for trade with Greeks, Africans, and other seafaring peoples. And the Mediterranean climate of hot, dry summers and wet, mild winters allowed people, plants, and animals to thrive. Hanedanlık Dönemi ——————————🇬🇧 The Egyptian civilization made great advances in farming, timekeeping, mathematics, architecture, and medicine that spread throughout the ancient world and led to further discoveries. Its burial methods and desert climate provided nearly perfect conditions to preserve its history for thousands of years. Ancient Egypt laid the foundation for much modern knowledge about medicine and mathematics, developed the precursor to paper, and gave the world items people use today, such as glass. And many of these innovations were thanks to the Nile valley, which provided fertile soil for crops and inspired ideas. @antiktarih @ancient.history @ahencyclopedia @archeobilgi @history_of_the_ancient_world @antikgezgin @aktuelarkeoloji @arkeomitos #ancientculture #ancientmesopotamia #ancientrome #ancientgreece #ancientanatolia #ancienthistory #ancientart #ancientreligion #ancientworld #arthistory #archaeology #archaeologist #human #world #time #sumer #akad #babylon #assyrian #persian #egypt #rome #greece #antiktarih #arkeoloji #sanattarihi #antik #tarih #prehistory #history
