Major 2nd is finally over and I'm already really missing this show. Whatever, here is my review for the sequel to one of my favorite franchises ever!
Major 2nd was a show that felt like it was a great homage to its near perfect original show, whilst being able to also stand out as a unique sports anime.
The matches were intense and really entertaining, the drama was powerful and really worked into the character development, and the pacing was very nice.
This anime feels like the most realistic take on baseball yet and I love how Daigo isn't an overpowered main character nor even a pitcher. He felt very refreshing to the storyline.
Daigo isn't close to Goro for pure awesomeness, but I love his character.
He felt like a genuine underdog who wanted to make his father proud, but struggled with his lack of strength in his arm as well as his lack of born talent.
His development was amazing and he felt real. Which is terrific.
Hikaru was also great as Daigo's best friend and even he was a nice character who never felt generic.
Sakura and Michiru were cute and great to watch.
Goro definitely has matured into a decent father figure, but still feels goofy and lovable, same with Kaoru.
Art & Animation (8.5/10)
Simple but very well drawn and animated during the matches.
The openings were great but the use of the OST was awesome. When some of the old Major songs returned, I did feel nostalgic.
It was fun, powerful, and very intense. I felt sad, happy, and many more emotions with this show and franchise.
Major 2nd was really great. A terrific sports anime that had great drama to it.
One of the best shows of this year and one of the most overlooked shows of the year too.
