Cillian Murphy in PEACOCK (2010), directed by Michael Lander, written by Michael Lander and Ryan Roy. Also starring Susan Sarandon, Ellen Page, Bill Pullman and Josh Lucas.
This film is a hidden gem. I loved it so much that I watched it twice. Cillian Murphy gives an outstanding performance as a man with multiple personality disorder from being abused as a child. Seriously, it’s one of the best performances that I’ve ever seen. I can’t believe that this film isn’t more well-known. If you’re an actor, then you have to watch it!
After finishing S4 of Peaky Blinders, I felt compelled to seek out more of Cillian’s work. I’m so glad that I did, because his work is a GIFT! He is a brilliant character actor who is criminally underrated. I have learned more about acting from just watching his performances than I have from any acting class.
He brings so much realism to his roles that you forget who you’re watching. Every subtle nuance and mannerism has been perfected to suit each different character.
In addition to Peacock and Peaky Blinders, if you want good examples of his range then I also recommend watching Breakfast on Pluto, Anthropoid and The Wind That Shakes the Barley. #FilmLoverFriday #CillianMurphyAppreciationPost
