Billboard architecture is a style of commoner's shop & house after the Big Kanto Earthquake in 1923. To prevent the fire, people started to cover the exterior of their wooden houses with mortar or bronze. This fire wall was given the function of shop's billboard as well. Therefore, it's called the billboard architecture.
