, some art from my pre-Havenwald days! I feel any artistic endeavor you engage in, fosters and develops your creativity and skills in other artistic arenas. What does face painting or family tree oil paintings have to do with #tinyhouse

? The principles of scale, color theory, dimension and proportion are veins that pulse through every expression of art. Sometimes the artistry calls for flipping “scale” or proportion, etc, on its ear and defying the normative tolerances. To invite not just a pushing of, but a complete abandonment of the strictures of the proverbial envelope. That in itself becomes the new boundary of scale or proportion. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t. But I find it supremely fun to construct “art”, whatever that means, by reaching for those established veins and then dashing them all together, or apart, or twisting them in knots or turning them inside out, or all of the above, allowing the deconstruction to become the new construct. And then sometimes I just follow the veins, knowing I can’t improve upon them. I’ve often wondered whether art imitates life, or life imitates art. The best answer I’ve ever been able to come up with is “both”.
