Artist: Maria Paterson @mpatersonart
Medium: ink on paper
Size: 35 x 45 cm
Maria says about her works: ‘My recent art making has been focused on my emotional responses connecting me to the landscape of water I am surrounded by. Using the materials of pastel, oils and mixed media to shape and form my impressions, intuitively expressed. The in between of imagined and what is in front of me. Working in that liminal space of transition . The water is a reflection between sky and earth that changes minute by minute, day by day. Immersing myself in this sublime experience, I paint my works capturing a fleeting momment in time this landscape has evoked from me.’
Casa Prieto Lopez, 1947-1950, Luis Barragan
"...the words beauty, inspiration, enchantment, magic, sorcery, charm and also serenity, silence, intimacy and amazement have disappeared at an alarming rate in publications devoted to architecture. All of them have found a loving welcome in my soul, and even if I am far from claiming to have made them complete justice in my work, they have never ceased to be my beacon. "
Luis Barragan, acceptance speech for the Pritzker Prize

Printmaker Abraham Mascorro Morales considers himself a "huge fan of the image. My interests and issues have to do with popular culture, with icons, I have always had the idea that my work itself is full of symbols. I'm obsessed with pairs of complementary colors (notably blue and orange.) I see my work as a continuous process for the conformation of a space of representation of the symbolic." Day 271 of my 365 day drawing challenge! I think I’m finished with this one now. I did a lot more work adding texture to the rocky areas on the path and I think it looks pretty good. I may go back and mess with the grass a little more but I’m going to move on to something else tomorrow.

'Was it something that you said?' (London, 19 August 2018)
When people asked me why we were studying design in Amsterdam in particular I wasn’t sure. I just wanted to study abroad and travel. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀🤷🏼♀️
But now I understand how innovative and important Dutch Design is. While I was there I had to write about my design observations. One of the things a lot of us picked up on was the amazing usage of light.
So if you’d like to read more about Dutch Design check out my latest blog post! Link in my bio
