Recently had dinner with the family at the new Bedok Central Hawker & went round looking for past favourites growing up!
Managed to locate Hock Hai Curry Chicken Noodles and decided to order it instantly!
At $4, you get a choice of noodles (I went for 粗米粉/thick bee hoon) and thinly sliced breast meat topped with their thick coconut curry broth with chunks of potatoes and taopok. Due to the changing palate, the curry itself isn’t as spicy, so feel free to add on the chilli paste on your own (refer to the dollop on the top right) to decide on how spicy you’d like your noodles to be.
This bowl brought me back to my childhood days where this hawker was a weekly stopover for its variety of food. I’m glad to say, the standards have not changed after so many years.
20-Layer Chocolate Cake ($24+)
- chocolate devil’s food cake, peanut butter mascarpone.
The cake consists of 10 layers of soft devil’s food & 10 layers of delicious, heavy peanut butter cream. A thin, glossy dark chocolate layer costs the sides and garnish of peanut brittle adds both a crunch to the texture and saltiness to the flavour.
Four of us girls shared this but we had a challenging time trying to finish it and had to resort to playing multiple rounds of games so the losers had to take a bite. Haha. Well to be fair we had our dinner right before indulging in this devil cake hence the huge challenge! Then again, how gooood to get to share such sinful dessert (imptly its calories) at Level57 w your friends?!😊
Then again I kinda told myself I’d probably stay off PB for a good 6months coz I got kinda scared hahhaaha.
The hyped pastry shop has finally launched in Hong Kong. People are crazy about the new sensation and line ups are formed ever since the store has opened.
Their famous croissant is made with natural butter, ISO qualified egg and flour. It is claim to have a 64 layers of comb shaped interior delivered by the unique folding method acquired from Japan. Each person is only eligible for 6 croissant per visit and can only get 1 for each limited edition. I am a firm believer in the classics, anything else is just flash, so let us talk about their original croissant.
Right from the package, I could smell the fragrances of the butter. It is recommended to enjoy the croissant within a couple hours after purchasing to prevent moisture formed inside the pastry which will yield to a soggy texture. The outer shell was quite crispy, slightly flaky which I liked. The interior was well rised with their signature comb shape interior. The croissant was also rigid enough to bounce back slowly after a bite which proved a proper proofing (a baking technique). Taste wise, it was a little on the sweet side, with a hint of toasty flavor from the crust. There was a honey glaze on the crust which caramelized during baking and gave the pastry a shinny amber finish.
All in all a pretty decent croissant. Despite the challenging waiting time and the slightly small size, I am pretty satisfied with this one, especially the location.

⚠️ Weekend exclusive alert!!! For today's lunch at W39 Bistro & Bakery, I had the pleasure of trying out their Chef's Special, the Baked Egg ($13.90), which features a beautiful molten egg 🍳 on a bed of chili con carne.
Digging my spoon into the yolk caused it to languidly ooze into the chili con carne with the result being a sumptuous mix of eggy goodness and a hearty stew comprising beef & beans 🤤 .
The Baked Egg is also served with two slices of W39's homemade sourdough 🍞 - love their home-baked loaves!!! - on the side so that you can dip it into that casserole full of goodness and come away with a yummy mouthful. Mmm. It was very delicious indeed! 😋 .
If you wanna try out this dish, do head on down to W39 Bistro & Bakery today (23/9) because it's only available from 9am to 5pm this weekend!!! 😊
[Invited Tasting] There's no better way to unwind after a long day at work than with a cocktail 🍹 in hand and Carnivore has the perfect atmosphere for you to kick back and relax!
Try their Coconut Beat ($12), a concoction of cachaça, coconut syrup 🥥, cream and milk 🥛 that packs quite a boozy punch 👊 on its first sip.
Leave the froth to settle for a while and you'll find that the cocktail becomes more mellow and serves as a great accompaniment to their savoury churrasco meats 🍖🥩🍗🥓 This is one beat that I definitely wanna jive to! 🎶 .
If you wanna have a one-of-a-kind Brazilian Churrasco experience, do head over to my main post on Carnivore to participate in my giveaway (ending tomorrow!!!) if you haven't yet! 😄 .
for the delicious meal! ❤
Roasted Garlic Chicken // Chir Chir Chicken // This took a while to come during peak hours, but it was so worth it!
Rainy day calls for soupy craves!
ft. Pork Chop n’ Pork Wonton w thick shaved noodles.
It was definitely love at first bite with this steaming bowl of shoyu black truffle ramen! 🍜
We opted for this signature bowl that starts with housemade noodles and carefully crafted broth that’s light but complex in flavour. Our bowl was topped with tender char siu, bamboo shoots, scallions, wonton for extra protein, and a soft boiled marinated egg. We also purchased the instant noodle version and are excited for our tastebuds to relive this ramen experience! 🤗
⭐️ Tsuta was the first Ramen restaurant to be awarded a Michelin star in the world.
ℹ️ There is a bit of planning required if you want to eat here before 3pm as they do not accept reservations and have a ticketing system in place. Essentially, the restaurants requests customers to pay a deposit when picking up a ticket. Tickets represent hourly time slots where holders will then queue up to order and dine in. This allowed us time to explore another neighbourhood while grabbing a few snacks beforehand to minimize our queuing time! Their last ordering time is 6pm and no tickets are required between 3pm to close.

fish head curry, deep fried squids and fish eggs here are really yummy
[Latergram] You know that feeling when a stroke of fate leads you to discover something magnificent? 😀 .
Well, that's the story behind this photo! I had popped by Tsujirihei-Honten's booth at Takashimaya B2 Food Hall intending to get my usual favourite, the Uji Matcha Nama Soft Serve 🍦, but the guy manning the counter got my order wrong and I ended up with the Uji Hojicha Nama Soft Serve instead! 😅 .
Although I'm a huge fan of hojicha, I've never once thought of ordering the hojicha soft serve here cos I just love the matcha flavour way too matcha but oh boy was that hojicha soft serve so damn good!!! It has such an intense flavour profile which hits you full on and the roasted notes of the tea really comes through with every lick of the soft serve. It's magnificent in every way possible!!! ❤ .
So yep, I'm just really glad that the guy got my order wrong! 😆
