I just finished an amazing 1 hr 22 minute full body strength and conditioning circuit work out. I did each exercise for two minutes with a 15 second break in between. #Throwbackwednesday För exakt ett år sen drog jag 200kg i mark för första gången i mitt liv (24 år gammal, 85kg kvällsvikt). Det var en sjukt stor milstolpe som gick relativt fort att komma upp till. Har faktiskt inte hållt på med styrkelyft så länge, började sommaren/hösten 2017 att träna endast styrkelyft. Marklyft har jag endast kört i 2 år. Första gången jag drog mark var i mars 2016. Ökade från noll till 190 på 3-4 månader sen stannade jag på order av min dåvarande coach pga skaderisk och skulle kliva på tävlingsdieten inför min debut i Men's Physique. Sen efter den tävlingen (Luciapokalen 2016) så försökte jag komma tillbaka till samma nivå som jag nådde under sommaren men det tog några månader innan 200kg gick upp, efter lite drygt 1 års markande! YOU’RE PROBABLY DOING BOX JUMPS WRONG _______________________________________ Somewhere along the line, box jumps became about jumping over the box instead of landing on it. The purpose of jumping onto a box is to minimize the impact and eccentric stress of landing while allowing the athlete to jump as high as they can. Adding the box makes for a much safer exercise. _______________________________________ There’s tons of videos online of athletes doing 50+in box jumps, but they’re landing in a full squat. While this is very impressive, it’s not the most efficient way to increase power. In most cases, they aren’t actually jumping they are just moving their feet from the ground to the top of the box. Hip extension is not taking place fully and it somewhat defeats the purpose. At the end of the day we’re trying to jump higher, NOT see who can get into the deepest squat on the highest box most efficiently. ________________ INSTEAD, jump as high as you can vertically and land on top of a box. I like to go no higher than 24in for this. My knees felt great today so I thought I’d hit a workout that pushed me to the edge. “Linda” aka three bars of death For Time: 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 Deadlift (1 1/2 bodyweight) 275 Bench (Bodyweight) about 185 on a light ass day Squat clean (1/2 body weight) 135 • Do this with a partner if you can. Doing this by yourself is another monster. My mind was telling me to quit after the first 10 deadlifts smh. BUT I FINISHED!
Some Benchy benchy and squaty squaty. Here’s a picture of an extremely happy girl after finally hitting some real numbers on a few lifts. I was able to hit 145 and 265 respectively, even after a crazy/emotional day. * These numbers are not close to wear I would like to be but I struggled a shit ton to get here and to be honest Its been over a year now since attempting to push extremely heavy loads. I was scared and my confidence on the platform sucked. There’s nothing like getting sick, losing your strength, muscle and starting from the beginning (or in my case just the barbell). Talk about a fucking humbling experience. . Truthfully I had more in the tank and was able execute each lift pretty well in my coach’s eyes. Once the load gets heavier, it changes from physical ability to mentally for me. I was so in my head and even bailed out of the load 2x! . This is the shit that gets me excited and has been a huge factor in building my confidence in other areas of my life as well! So to all my my mamacita’s out there! You do you ma, build yourself up, love yourself for all the things you ARE capable of. We need more confident and strong women out there. . Don’t worry males, I see you too! Grinding and shit. 😏 .
