Final reflections on Copenhagen: A week since I left and I’m overwhelmingly grateful to have experienced this beautiful city. I’m coming back for you, Denmark! ✨ #copenhagen #suitcasediaries #nyhavn
Any one else terrified of flying? One of the downsides of living on an island is that you have to go on a plane to get off it (or a boat but who has time for that?) and for people who are scared of flying, like me, that sucks. I do love the views from the plane though. Are you a window seat person or an aisle seat person? I'm definitely a window seat person!

Pumpkin pie. It’s not really a dessert that’s caught on here in Europe; let alone in the UK or down under where I grew up, but unlike most, we go way back. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I was a child, as soon as my mother’s subscription for Australian Gourmet hit the kitchen table she’d go into a cooking frenzy, and when she found something she really liked, she’d literally cook it for months on end, sometimes years. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I still have nightmares about a particular ham and broccoli pie that like magic, seemed to appear out of mum’s Mary Poppins style handbag at the most inopportune moments. Feeling peckish? There it was: in a traffic jam, on the sidelines of a rugby pitch or even worse, at a school concert. It was accompanied by that sulfuric brassica pong that made lunch boxes a source of social persecution and picnics a very silent affair, with lots of slow disappointed chewing whilst staring longingly at neighbouring families eating hot bbq chickens and creamy coleslaw. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To this day I can still smell it and the sound of a spring-form pan being un-clipped still conjures up that menacing theme from jaws with the stabbing sounds of screeching violin strings, but mum, if you’re reading this, it was an impressively handsome looking pie and totally delicious... the first, mmm... 10 times I ate it at least.😉😘
Fortunately, when Gourmet ran an American Thanksgiving feature, it soon became clear that mum’s fickle devotion to the brassica had run its course and suddenly we were, very thankfully, eating pumpkin pies like they were the pie that just kept on giving.
Despite the fact that I’ve eaten countless pumpkin pies In my time, this is still something I seem to make, albeit once, in late autumn every year. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Unlike the ham and broccoli pie, which has now reached Voldemort status in our family as ‘the pie that must not be mentioned’, this one is a real keeper.

I love this gem of a place! Always makes me feel inspired to be at the Palace of Fine Arts.
what a view! hawk hill for the win! 🌅
The shopping in Morocco!!! There is not enough luggage in the world to take home all the things I want to buy.
Next time I visit I’m bringing an empty shipping container! #theressomuchtosee
I never really know what to do on the days when there is an ocean inside me. You know those days where you’re just a bit wibbly and wobbly on the inside and you can’t find balance between your emotions and your logic. I feel a lot of emotions on a daily basis, but I’m never truly sure if they’re all mine. See, that’s the problem with being an empath. You’re carrying a bowl of hot soup, and people unknowingly put their bowls of hot soup on top of yours, until eventually you’re carrying so many bowls that they all tip over and pour hot soup all over you. All you can do when that happens is shake your bones dry, make a cup of tea, and watch your favourite show with no pants on. And maybe, when you’re 27 episodes in to a Doctor Who binge, you’ll realise that ocean inside you has become a gentle lake, and you’re ready to get up and carry that bowl of soup again with softer footsteps and better balance inside and out.

⋒ A bit bleary eyed and tired this morning after a late night drinking fizz on a school night. (Obviously not a pic of me right now) but woken up feeling very grateful with a full heart this morning after a lovely birthday yesterday. Big love to everyone who sent me birthday wishes, cards and gifts. People’s kindness and thoughtfulness always blows me away. Also my loved ones are amazing and I honestly don’t know where I’d be without them. Thank you for thoroughly spoiling me yesterday. Definitely not a hump day today! I hope you all have a good Wednesday whatever you’re up to 🌻✨
Mighty Mt Cook. Crazy to think that the first guy to summit Everest actually trained on this mountain 🥶🏔
You couldn't handle me even if I came with instructions. (Seriously.. if you don't believe me, ask my parents 🤣 ) 🏖 😎 #athaliatravels
