Story time: Listen to your body.
I just recently got back to the gym after a 2 week break. To most people and gym enthusiasts this might seem crazy. I did this for a couple reasons, my strength was going down, exercises were getting harder, which in turn led to my gym experience and motivation to go into a downward spiral. Also, I had not taken more than 2-3 days off from the gym in around 3 years. Through lifting for many years, you are lead to learn many things about the human body. One of those things is how exercises impact your central nervous system. Over time if you do not give proper time for that central nervous system to recover you will end up like me, backwards progress for seemingly no reason.
After this break I came back lifting 20-30lbs heavier in every exercise and feeling good while doing it. Motivation back at full and ready to kill it. Moral of the story, listen to your body. The “No days off bro” mentality will only have you weak and miserable. It’s YOU vs U. Go kill it.
