Master your silence... For most of us life is very stressful. We all have about 40,000 or more thoughts per day. Being able to manage our personal thoughts can often be difficult to achieve. Sometimes if we are not careful enough, thoughts become actions and then those actions become a pattern of our life. Being mindful is the first step to take control of our thoughts. Another key ingredient is to meditate daily. Meditation allows you to be more connected to your thoughts and inner self. Sit down in a quiet spot where you can relax. From there begin breathing mindfully through the nose and exhale smoothly through your mouth. When you practice your breathing make sure that when a thought gets presented in the mind resume back the focus of your breath. Practicing daily meditation does wonders to the mind and body. The habit of daily meditation leads to be more aware of our thoughts and feelings. DAY 4 T h e R e c i p e s Food is a HUGE part of healing in Ayurvedic medicine. What you eat, you become. Our food gets broken down into our cells and then it literally TURNS into our organs. THIS IS the importance of food. ▪ ▪ How you eat, you feel. But sadly even when you think you are eating a healthy diet, it might not be the right diet for you. ▪ ▪ What I love about Ayurveda is that it never tells a person how they should eat FOREVER. It looks at the current imbalances and treats them so that you can enjoy a variety of foods depending on your current imbalances. ▪ ▪ For example, my high level of Pitta & Vata means that I am to incorporate specific foods into my diet for three weeks - until the symptoms subside & then I can slowly reincorporate my favourite foods & see how they make me feel. ▪ ▪ This is one of the recipes I was sent, it is a lentil, coconut & spinach curry. I used a tiny bit of turmeric, curry powder, ginger & salt. It was specifically made so the spices would help to balance my current constitution. ▪ ▪ Using herbs and spices to help heal has been a practice that dates back to before books were written. It is important to get yourself to a state of health where you simply don't need to worry about food anymore, and can use your energy elsewhere. ▪ ▪ That is my aim. ▪ ▪ UPDATE: medicine got slightly better this afternoon. Marinated this chicken all day in wine, soy sauce, garlic, berry jam, and crushed red pepper. Grilled it with the corn in the husk, and made a delicious crunchy salad to round it out. The salad dressing: ponzu, sriracha, sesame oil, tamari, and honey. The vegetables: jicama, pineapple, snap peas, red cabbage, avocado, slivered almonds and black sesame seeds. Maybe one day I'll return to weighting... in fact, I believe I will. Not the way I used to, but just incorporating it. But right now I have no desire to, and I know it is not time. It would not benefit me and that's totally ok. I'll know when the time is right, when my body is ready. I love my body, and I want to move BECAUSE I love it, not because I feel I have to, or out of hate, or out of guilt. Exercise - movement - should feel empowering, energizing, right. Not like a chore, or a burden, or another thing on your to-do list to rush through. You should crave it, resonate with it, LOVE what you do. But also set boundaries with it. Too much exercise counteracts its positive effects, and ends up being just ANOTHER stressor to your body. So move, move with love, move with passion, and move because you want to. Do it for you. xoxo

A receita do dia é o Golden Milk, uma bebida que combina com as temperaturas baixas da nossa região, produzido com um alimento saudável e funcional: o açafrão. Quem nos passa essa dica é a nutricionista Gabriela Zago, anota aí: Ingredientes: 2 colheres (sopa) de leite de coco em pó; 1 colher (chá) de açafrão; 1/4 colher (chá) de pimenta preta moída; 1/2 colher (chá) de gengibre em pó; 1/2 colher (chá) de cardamomo em pó; 1/2 colher (chá) de canela; 2 colheres (chá) de açúcar demerara; 1 colher (chá) de óleo de coco; 150 ml de água. Para preparar você deve seguir os passos: 1º: misturar as especiarias e o açúcar demerara com o óleo de coco derretido (colocar em banho maria na água morna para derreter); 2º: em outro recipiente dissolver o leite de coco em pó com a água (40ml); 3º: incorporar as especiarias e acrescentar o restante da água. 4º: colocar tudo em uma panela no fogo e mexer até ficar com uma coloração dourada, assim estará pronto o seu Golden Milk. Enxaqueca, hemicrania ou hemialgia é um transtorno neurológico crónico caracterizado por dores de cabeça recorrentes, de moderadas a graves, muitas vezes associadas a diversos sintomas do sistema nervoso autónomo. A dor de cabeça afeta geralmente apenas um dos lados, é de natureza pulsátil e dura entre 2 e 72 horas, podendo prolongar em certos casos. Entre os sintomas associados estão náuseas, vómitos, e sensibilidade à luz, ao som ou ao odor. Minestrone (with a twist)! 🍲 . So my favorite minestrone recipe is from The Moosewood Restaurant’s 40th Anniversary Cookbook. However, I am VERY liberal in my recipe modifications! I came up with a new version last night that I’m pretty excited to share... . This version has the yummy local veggies I found yesterday at @sundaybrunchfarmersmarket : organic white corn, yellow squash and limas...plus the carrot, celery and zucchini the recipe called for. Additional note on the veggies: I also left out the extra tomatoes and bell pepper from the recipe to reduce the overall nightshade content. . Now for the hacks that take the recipe from solid and tasty to mind-blowing! 😁. . •Substitute out 1 cup of your water for white wine. . •Sauté 2 links of Field Roast vegan Italian sausage in more wine (I used red) until all the wine is absorbed- then add this to the soup! . •Top your bowl with fresh Italian parsley, parmesan cheese and a few dollops of pesto! . One of our favorite morning rituals to wake up to is Abyhangha-Self Daily Massage . It has many benefits: . . 💙Improves overall circulation by moving vital body fluid . 💙Tones and firms the skin . 💙Oil is heavy, dense, and moist so it is grounding and reduces vata . 💙A subtle yet powerful practice in loving and accepting ourselves . 💙Increases prana-qi-energy for vitality and strength . 💙HOW TO: . If you are Vata Pitta type, a gentle slow massage is best. Kapha types need quicker and more invigorating strokes . Apply a liberal amount of oil to the skin starting from the head down( more grounding) or toes up ( more awakening). Move in circular motions around the joints to remove debris and ama, and lovingly massage yourself towards the heart. We suggest showering after💦 . Coconut, sunflower, almond are cooling oils to use during Summer or for Pitta types . Try this at home, and integrate it into your daily self care rituals if you haven't already. Honestly, I am not a big DIY person; I used to have phases earlier when I would be really hands on with it but now its been a while.
