This was the day that changed me. The first time I actually saw the victims of our food choices, not only on a screen, but right there in front of me. Dead bodies of innocent babies. From this moment on I realized that as a vegan, you mustn't stay silent. Silence only helps the oppressor, but never the victims. Compassion without action is just observation. This day it became so clear to me that I have the duty to act and speak up against animal oppression, as loud and as often as I can.
I barely felt anger in my life before, since that demo I do. Looking at these dead babies made me feel incredibly angry, desperate and also powerless. But I know I'm not. We can use these negative emotions as a fuel for activism and turn them into positive change. No one is alone in this fight. There are so many amazing activists out there dedicating their time to speaking up for the animals as well as actually rescuing them from the death factories they live in.
When I think back to the animals I saw at that demo, I can still exactly recall how I felt in these moments. I'm close to tears while writing this, even months later I can't really put my feelings into words.
I can't force you to go vegan, but I can educate and ask you to make more compassionate choices than paying for someone forcing a knife into animals' bodies for an unnecessary reason. And I also can't say it enough - vegans, please become active! We need every single one of you to stop this violence and injustice.
