Whey protein! What's it is, what it's for, and should invest in it!
•What is it?- Whey protein is a one of the two proteins found in milk, the other being casein(a supplement for another post)
•What's it for?- Whey being a supplement, is to be used to do just that... supplement your whole food diet in order to meet your daily protein intake and caloric requirements. It is by no means an absolute necessity, you can meet the recommended protein intake from your diet, whey just makes it a bit easier. Whey is also absorbed faster than any other for of protein & delivers a large amount of the amino acid L-cysteine, which can alleviate deficiencies that occur during aging and diabetes, as well as other conditions.
•Should you invest in Whey?- If you are finding it hard to meet your recommended daily protein requirements through your diet or don't have time to eat just after a worlput, it's very convenient to just throw a scoop or two of whey in a shaker and easily get 40-50g of protein, even with breakfast if you don't have time to eat a full meal...throw some whey in the blender with some oats and a couple other ingredients and you easily have a high protein morning shake to start your day.
