An old classic with a twist! Who doesn't like a BLT ( bacon lettuce and tomato)? Once you remove the bread, add a little scrambled egg and some avocado, lettuce wrap that bad boy, and voila, you have a low carb weigh loss friendly dish. FYI, you can also use smoked salmon instead of the bacon, if you enjoy that sort of thing. For me, if I need a change from my morning smoothie, or I’m just having a weekend breakfast with my family, its great little treat! But is it healthy, and is it okay to eat it all the time? The short answer in my opinion is, I wouldn't eat it more than a couple of times a week, and I would try and stick with the organic variety just as an added precaution. There is enough research out there from sources that I trust, that say, that bacon is not as bad as once thought, and actually has some great benefits in the form of healthy fats, but it's hard to ignore all the evidence that says the complete opposite. Now, we were all told to stop eating eggs, because they have too much cholesterol, and are dangerous for our health, and we saw how true that was. At this point there is just too much conflicting research out there, for me to say one way or another if bacon is actually something that’s good for us, like eggs. But if enjoyed in moderation, with a balanced diet that includes plenty of veggies, moderate amount of healthy clean protein, plenty of healthy fats, it can definitely be a part of a healthy lifestyle, especially if you want something tasty and flavorful when trying to lose weight.
