Banana chips at home
DIL Deepa had brought a few Raw Banana from her native. So this is going to be a Banana week.
To start with after a long time prepared Banana Chips at home. If I remember right,this is my very first preparation I learnt at home some decades ago from my Mom. Both Banana chips and Potato 🥔 chips preparation. When preparing potato chips I pour a little salted water so that the chips absorbs the salt and no external salt adding required. Here, after frying Added pepper salt. 2 Bananas yielded Chips enough for 4 people. Home made is better than the bought out chips. Fresh & crispy.
The peel I did not want to waste. Made Banana Peel Stir fry/ Kaya Tholi Thoran (in Malayalam). See album for the photographs.
Even Thogaiyal ( Chutney) can be out of this peel. Here cook the chopped Peel with Turmeric powder and salt. Set aside.
Grind the following finely.
2 TBLS Grated Coconut, 2- Green Chillies, 3-4 Garlic cloves.
Heat Oil in Kadai, Add Mustard. Split Black Dal ( Urad) and Curry leaves. Add the cooked peel along with the blended coconut Chilly paste and mix well. Cook till raw smell goes.
Tasty Raw Banana Peel Stir fry is ready.
