Heading into the crux of yesterday’s line (first photo). Line descends upper sunlit face, then heads down funnel/ couloir feature in center of second photo.
Spotted this line on Bow Peak earlier the season and had been wondering if the choke in the lower feature would go clean, as well as whether or not the upper face would indeed link smoothly into the lower feature. After confirming with binoculars that the choke would go, the only thing left was to head up and check the whole thing out. With the current forecast,it looked like stability would be deteriorating so me and @philblester_photo
decided to go for it. Due to a time constraint, we didn’t make it quite to the top of the upper face, but still managed to ski most of it as well as the crux lower feature. Had some thick/thin issues in the funnel section which made for some interesting turns considering the lower choke, but then found great snow and fun technical skiing in the choke itself. All in all, fantastic day in the mountains!!
Note: the funnel feature loads up and releases regularly and the huge avalanche path below shows how big they can be. Great line, but time it right!
