It was actually one of those impromptu recipes inspired by what I had in the kitchen - tomatoes, spinach and shrimp 😍 these sautéed shrimp were BANGING and could be thrown over anything for a delicious and complete meal. Please don’t forget that Instagram is often a highlight reel full of gorgeous photos, perfect Buddha bowls and avocado toast. And I’m guilty of this as well, more likely to post my perfectly curated photos and leave out the beige meals, candy/chocolate, and alcohol. So here’s a post of some real fudgey brownies from a box (No maple syrup or coconut flour here). While most of my meals are packed with vegetables, healthy fats, fiber and lean proteins, I have a very varied and balanced diet that consists of sugar, alcohol and the occasional fried food. Before I make any recommendations to my clients, there’s a lot to take into consideration: lifestyle, medical history, family medical history, current physical health, lab results, past and current diet practices, support, etc. Because of this, I will not provide 1 off meal plans for those who want to improve their health. I believe in personalized nutrition, where I work with my clients on a 1:1 basis to help improve their health or relationship with food in a gentle and sustainable way - which looks different for everyone. Wanna hear something crazy? 🤨 I was worried to post that I brought @eatbanza pasta with me to England. I was worried that someone might assume that this is an attempt to control my food - to choose a “healthier” option. When in reality, this couldn’t be further from the truth! 1. I LOVE regular pasta - I’ve posted several recipes on this page with normal pasta and there is Absolutely nothing wrong with eating pasta! 2. Banza was kind enough to send me a few boxes before I left, and I truly LOVE the taste of it - so i didn’t want to waste it - so I brought it with me 🙌🏻 and 3. I think this is a great meal option because it’s super high in protein, which is great because I don’t have to worry about adding another protein source to my meal, and can load it with veggies and still feel satiated for hours. So yea, I think as a dietitian that deals with many disordered eating clients, it’s hard not to feel like I perpetuate or trigger any disordered eating habits 😌 I’m constantly struggling with posting “healthy” recipes, as I want to promote health and wellness, but conscientious about stressing the importance of balance and an all Foods fit approach to eating. Skipping the food post this morning and answering some of your questions about why I moved to the UK. For my new followers out there, or those who might not know, this guy right here is the reason 🙌🏻🥰 here’s a bit about our story... 1. Mark and I met at a summer camp in 2013 and have been together ever since 2. We did a 3 year long distance relationship as I was finishing my undergrad degree at the university of Delaware and completed my dietetic internship and Mark was living and working in England (but he’s actually from Wales) 3. I moved to the UK to complete my masters degree at UCL in Eating Disorders and Clinical Nutrition, and finally moved in with Mark! 4. We lived together for 2 years, before I went back to the states to apply for a new visa (took 5 months to get approved) 😍 So, that’s our story! Which brings us to present day, back to living together in our cozy flat with our puppy Oscar. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s always been fun 🥳 #barithedietitian

Honestly I almost didn’t take a picture of this bowl because I was RAVENOUS 😂🙈 i didn’t listen to my own nutrition advice today for sure 🙈 but, I’m only human and sometimes life gets in the way. I had half a @perfectbar on the train this morning and was very busy and anxious that I didn’t have an appetite. And then, as I got off the train at 4 - I was so hungry I thought I was going to faint 😂 (dramatic but so true). I should have brought snacks. I shouldn’t have gone that long without eating. I seriously surprised myself with how friggen delicious this dinner was last night. It was actually one of those impromptu recipes inspired by what I had in the kitchen - tomatoes, spinach and shrimp 😍 these sautéed shrimp were BANGING and could be thrown over anything for a delicious and complete meal. Does anyone else intentionally over-order at a sushi restaurant so they can enjoy leftovers for breakfast? Hmmm, maybe just me 🤷🏻‍♀️ haha sushi is my all time favorite food in the world 🍣 usually, I get sashimi (so fresh and delicious), but last night we got lots of rolls ❤️ . . Contrary to what most people think, sushi can be a very healthy meal out. Often packed with high quality protein, vegetables, avocado, sushi rice (actually fermented due to the rice wine vinegar - so yay gut health) and iodine (seaweed), sushi can be a great and well balanced meal. However, there are also plenty of fried (and delicious) rolls and extra sauces that may not be as nutrient dense, although can still be enjoyed! 🍩 Dessert 🍩 do you guys enjoy dessert? I sure do 🙌🏻❤️ not every night, but, most nights I like to have dessert, specifically chocolate and pretzels (in that order). I have found that this is something many of my clients struggle with 🍫 many are afraid to keep certain foods (I.e ice cream, chocolate or candy) in the house, as they feel they “they can’t control themselves” . . And while tackling this subject takes a personalized approach, I always ask them “how can you learn to regulate around the foods when you’re never exposed to them”? You see, if you continually put certain foods “off limits”, when you finally eat them, you may experience this: “I don’t know when the next time I will have this food, so let me eat as much as I can” . . When we stop looking at foods as “black and white”, and start to accept the “gray”, we learn that all foods can fit within the diet and everything can be enjoyed in moderation. And with that, comes decreased periods of food anxiety, binges, and restriction. Ever since I opened up about my struggle with stress and subsequent alopecia, I have gotten so many amazing messages from those who have experienced the same! While I am NO expert at alopecia, and certainly no expert at stress management (which I’m sure my boyfriend can attest to 😂), I do know what worked for me: decreasing my high-intensity exercise, reading, coconut oil hair masks, head massages, journaling, dog walks with a podcast, face masks, creating a lot of lists and ice cream ❤️ tonight I have some coco-buns going on and a @renskincare glycolic peel in my @sweatybetty groufit before dinner and some work tonight! Hello #meatlessmonday ! Again, I am not a vegan, but I do try to incorporate as many plant-based dishes as I can because 1. I love the way they taste 2. They’re packed with lots of fiber and nutrients and 3. They are environmentally friendly! This week I adapted one of @pinchofyum soups (less herbs de Provence, less liquid for a more stew-like consistency, no potatoes, added @eatbanza , more lemon, etc.). The recipe is vegan-friendly, but I added some Parmesan cheese at the end because I’m not vegan and I love cheese 🙈🙌🏻🙋🏻‍♀️ . . Ingredients: 2 cups chopped butternut squash, 2 cups chopped carrots, 1 cup green lentils , 1 cup yellow split peas, 1 onion, 5 cloves garlic, 8 cups vegetable broth. 1.5 tsp herbs de Provence, 1 teaspoon salt. At the end: 3 cups chopped kale (stems removed), 1 cup chopped parsley, 1/2 cup olive oil, juice of 1/2-1 lemon, 1 box @eatbanza (I had 2 opened) . . Directions: combine all ingredients into a crockpot on high for 5 hours. Remove 5 cups of the soup, and blend with olive oil to form an emulsion. Add back to the crockpot and finish off with kale, parsley, lemon and cooked banza!
