In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Fabian Wagner(orignal cinematographer) praised Snyder and his ability to tell a story.
“This one was even shorter than I expected,” Wagner shared. “So there are scenes that aren’t in there. I really hope we get to see a director’s cut, which will give us everything that we shot that didn’t make it in. What I love about his [Snyder’s] director’s cuts is they are long, but he takes his time to tell the story. I’ve never watched any of his directors cut and thought ‘This is long.’ Whether they are three hours long, or three hours and ten minutes or more, they always seemed to go quick.”
In an interview with Variety, Jim Lee was asked on what advice he would give to the director: Zack Snyder?
“Zack is a comic book fan and draws inspiration from the comics. He doesn’t need to be given advice. He’s a talented filmmaker. He’s a super stylized visualist. He’ll do stuff no one has ever done with the caped crusader and blow everyone away. He knows how to take the sensibility of comic books and do what other filmmakers don’t know how to do.”
Lee also says that adaptations should be inspired and not be a carbon copy:
“I know a lot of filmmakers will look at the source material and what we capture on paper and translate that entirely onto film, but it shouldn’t be a literal translation of the comic books themselves. We work in a medium that has no end. A film should have a beginning, middle and end and resolution until the next one comes out. We’re telling a story every single month. They’re different sensibilities.”
