Paris or Marrakech? That’s the question...😜💚✈️
I enjoy life when things are happening. I don’t care if it’s good things or bad things. That means you’re alive.
Orkney's history isn't just all about the Neolithic and Norse. This is Rerwick, an old WWI and WWII gun battery base that helped protect Kirkwall bay during both conflicts. There are plenty of sites like this to be found across the islands - crumbling old concrete buildings and rusting iron, all relics from the past, but full of the memories and stories of the men and women who were stationed there. 📷 by @louiseoupas #visitorkney #loveorkney
Remembering That Time When We Were at Isle of Skye, Scotland 🏴
I bought my first DSLR (Nikon D60) about 10 years ago, back in 2008. We were going on a trip to the Scottish Highlands and crossing over to the Isle of Skye. I thought I had better get a good camera instead of using my battered “point-and-shoot” one.
I didn’t have time to practise or test the new camera before the trip, and had brought along the thick manual to learn how to use the complicated-looking camera. I was a bit nervous, but the fact that I can view the captured images on the camera screen somewhat made it more comforting for me.
I am currently undergoing a “thorough” project 🙄 of organising all my photographs from 2008 in an orderly manner (which is looooong overdue)😁😱. Here’s one of the images I found in my forgotten hard drive. This was taken from the spectacular Quiraing, looking out to Staffin Bay. I had waited for the yellow van to be in the middle (of the straight road after the bend) to get this shot 🤓.
Happy as an 🐘 in 💩: the highlight of any day in the very social life of an orphaned baby elephant.
Despite their harrowing start to life, these timid orphans haven’t lost their love for a good, stinky mud bath.

این که آدم بداند
یک نفر به او فکر می کند
یک نفر دوستش دارد
انگار وجود آدم را برای خودش هم
عزیز و دوست داشتنی می کند...

So this is St Michael’s Mount - England’s blissfully uncrowded answer to Mont St Michel. In low tide, you can reach it by foot, but in HIGH tide, you can stage wistful self portraits in front of it, as the wind whips you sideways but with sunset colours making the water less murdery-looking 🙌🏼 I’d love to come back in the summer, but having this view to ourselves was pretty sweet.⠀
PS if you’re wondering why I look like a ghost in this pic, we did a long exposure to capture the dreaminess of the water and sky. Thanks to caffeine, I haven’t stood still since 2006 sooo that’s why I look like a low budget Ghostbusters villain.⠀
Now I’m plotting a visit to Mont St Michel so I can compare! Do you know of any other “twin” destinations like these two? I’d love to get some doppelgängers on my bucket list 🙌🏼 #WhyDidThatSoundKindaDirty #DontMindMe
Destination 6 in my '10 places to visit in 2019' is another one of my top 3 countries, Japan!
Why do I love Japan so much? Well... how much time do you have? 😆 It's a country steeped in history and culture while actively pushing to be at the top of the technological curve. The people are the nicest I've met in the world (they'll literally go out of their way to help you navigate your way in the country) and don't get me started on the food! Mmmm
The Tokyo Summer Olympics are set to take centre stage in 2020, so 2019 makes for the perfect time to visit! Things not to miss: the crazy-amazingness that is Tokyo, a sumo competition, riding their bullet trains, Mt Fuji, the incredible temples and shrines in Kyoto, and the nightlife in Osaka.
In the process of culling through recent travels and making large prints. Iceland was the destination last Fall. Headed to Cuba in ten days. Anyone looking for wall art shoot a DM.

Not ready to say goodbye to all the Christmas prettiness ⛸
