“Useless Instruments” | acrylic & oil stick on paper | 9”x12” | 2018
It’s often the little things that bring back the biggest memories. I remember having little trees just like these for the village my dad would put up every year at Christmas. He’d also hang the tie-on red velvet bows and the metallic mini presents (you know which ones, right?) on the tree. I doubt he still has any of those since his taste from young single bachelor to old married man has changed in the last 25 years. Surprisingly, the little trees, metallic packages, and velvet bows are all still sold today. I picked up the trees at work because I was continually drawn to them. Now I just have to decide where to put them!
Only 14 more days until Christmas, can you believe it?! What are some little things that remind you of Christmas?

(Coming tomorrow the final original paintings of 2018!) This year my body of work has taken me to new places, as I’ve explored new experiences and personal growth my art process has mirrored those changes. I’ve learned to lean into the unknown. Try new things, and trust myself during the journey. —
I hope you enjoy these last 8 paintings. They are my small way of closing a chapter and welcoming what comes next. —-

I finally got the chance to create a project I’ve been dreaming up for a while now! I cannot believe how cute they turned out!
Although I may not get as many free chances as I’d like, I love spending time outdoors. Growing up, my dad took me on many outdoor adventures - hikes, camping, skiing, snowshoeing, you name it! I find comfort within warm sweaters, crisp air, and snow-covered trees. During the holidays, I’m always reminded of the excursions we took together, and cannot wait for the few free moments I get to spend outside this coming season. These ornaments, along with the majority of my apartment’s decor, are markers to remind me to feed into my adventure.
I put my @officialcricut
to the test, and made some tiny vinyl decals to place onto these little red ornaments from @michaelsstores.
