Local coffee and tea tasting 😋
On my way into Ubud my driver asked if I wanted to try out some local coffee or kopi after flying for so long. He took me to the most amazing spot, I wish I could remember the name. While there I got to walk around and chat with some of the women who worked there and after trying some things I ordered a famous Luwak kopi (look it up to get info about it). While drinking my kopi the woman began to explain to me that it is the most expensive kopi in Bali and that if she is not working she cannot afford to drink it. The amount this 1 cup of coffee costs equals her entire days salary. It costs approximately $4 US. This conversation really made me think about how I spend money and what I spend it on and what is really important to me in the grand scheme of things.

This reminds me of someone I dated a few months ago. The last time i saw him was on a full moon and we mediated together and there was a moment when i realised it was all wrong. The vibe i got from him was intensely disturbing. I practically ran from him, I wasn't unsafe but it definitely felt intensely wrong with every fibre of my being. I have never felt that feeling before and it made me feel physically sick. Ultimately things didn't work out after that but I gotta tell y'all man, if it feels wrong, no matter how hot he/she is, run the opposite direction ASAP. I mean, we all read news of husbands killing their wives and vice versa right? Literally "till death do us part" and all that jiss 😱😰 Be safe out there people!

If your nose is blocked, be happy that actually you can still breathe, if you didn’t finish a deadline, be happy that you have a job , if someone cancelled on you, be happy that you have friends, if you ate something unhealthy when you are trying to diet, be happy knowing you will be healthier tomorrow, if you have family issues, be happy your family is around. 🙂😆😌 There will always be something that can shed a light on your life.🌟💫 This doesn’t mean to say you should brush sadness under the rug, you should accept and listen to that unhappy feeling, but don’t sit with it, let the happiness come back. ❤️💞❣️ The important thing is that you recognise when you need to turn the light on, and when it’s back on to let is shine through you and your life. ☀️⭐️✨ *

Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete? Proving nature's laws wrong, it learned to walk without having feet. Funny, it seems to by keeping it's dreams; it learned to breathe fresh air. Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else even cared.
Today self love looked like sleeping in, 115 oz of water, therapy, support, three home cooked meals and a perfect macro day. I have to say, I am pleased. 🤗💕
Today marks 1 year since Hurricane Maria destroyed the island of Dominica. The impact of the hurricane is still apparent, but in just 1 year both the people and the land have shown how resilient they are.
This picture was taken when I went in June to see the condition of the home my dad built there in the 80s. As you can see the house is roofless and unhabitable. I can’t even put into words the feeling of seeing the damage, since for the longest time this house was where I felt most connected to my father. None of that comes close to comparing to what those that live on the island have experienced.
After seeing our house we left to go stay in an airbnb in a different town. We met the local family that watches over the airbnb, a blind man, his brother, his brother’s step child, his widowed son + his 4 children. All of them living under 2 make-shift small roofs, w. no electricity/wifi for 10 months. They told us about the night Hurricane Maria passed, how all their cups + plates were flying across the room, how the floors were shaking and how all of a sudden their entire roof flew away and they never saw it again. How they stayed curled up in their bath tub and closets holding each other through the night waiting for the hurricane to pass.
Despite their circumstances this family + every other person I met on the island were the nicest and most positive people I’ve ever met. I’m sharing this as a reminder of how much you have to be grateful for. Look around you, you have light, running water, a roof, a phone connected to wifi. It’s so easy to take these seemingly “little” things for granted. So, if your mind is focused on everything you are lacking, let this be a reminder of how much you have.
And lastly, we have the ability to make easy adjustments to our way of living that can benefit the environment/prevent future devastating natural disasters like Hurricane Maria. Bring your reusable water bottle with you everywhere, say no when the cashier asks if you want a bag - even if you have to carry your food in your arms to the car, cut down your intake of animal products, basically just be mindful. Every choice adds up + makes a difference.
"SPOKEN WORDS CAN'T BE RETRIEVED." A farmer insulted his neighbour, realising his mistake he went to a preacher for forgiveness. The preacher told him to take a bag of feathers and drop them at the centre of the town. The farmer obeyed ans did as asked of him. Then the preacher asked him to collect all the feathers and bag them.
The farmer tried but couldn't as the feathers had all blown away.
When he returned to the preacher with an empty bag, the preacher said "The same thing is true about your words, you dropped them rather easily but you cannot retrieve them, so be cautious and careful in what words to be said and when to be said because once they leave .... it is difficult to retrieve them." "Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." It matters not your situation or emotional being, be careful with your words.
I’ve “fallen off” this fitness journey several times since starting & after reflecting on why I wasn’t able to stick with it, I think I’ve figured it out. I’ve always looked too much at the big picture. Lofty goals of how I’m going to drop all the weight I’ve put on over the last 12 years. It would allow me to make too many excuses. “It’s okay if I have a cheat day because I still have 6 more months to lose.” “It’s okay if I skip the gym today because I can still go 7 more times this month.” What I needed to do was embrace a mantra I’ve heard in one context or another for years & years... one • day • at • a • time •
And although it’s only been a few days of embracing this process, I’ve been able to eat clean, track progress, exercise, & practice mindfulness. That would have been a tall order before because I would have looked at each of those things in the long term and either gotten overwhelmed or given myself excuses to put them off. By focusing only on the day at hand & simply checking off these small steps, I’m already making a steady climb to that end goal I’ve been so distracted by before. Stay tuned!! .

Pull up a chair ✨ It’s time to talk self love fundamentals. Do you know what yours are?
I’m not talking, go for a pedi/mani, drink bubbles and life is beautiful. I’m asking you to dig deep.
There are circumstances in life that are going to jar those pretty little screws loose. You know, the ones holding everything together ...and when that happens you need to know how to pull yourself back togeather. No one else will be able to do it for you.
Here are some things that helped me through a paralyzing event in my life.
1. Being mindful of what I think, feel and want. I do not rely on what others think of me. Do not be afraid to sit with yourself and your feelings...understand them.
2. Act on what you need, not what you want. This helps keep you out of behaviors that might keep you in a particular pattern.
3. And here are the things I focus on: 7 hrs of sleep each night, fueling my body with tasty, balanced meals and some fresh air/ exercise.
Setting boundaries and living intentionally are key for me.
I also surround myself with a core group friends/ family I trust to be brutally honest.

The face of someone who is surrounded by a company she can’t get enough of and a team of women who inspire her on a daily basis. .
This is also the face of someone who struggles with anxiety and depression. Who gets hit at random times with crippling effects and wants to do absolutely nothing but hide in bed all day, not talking or seeing anyone. Who constantly questions if people find her annoying and are just pretending to like her. Who tries all day long to shut off the negativity and her own voice tearing her down for a million different reasons. Who sometimes feels like she’s exhausted, even when she just got a full night’s sleep. Who feels like she can’t breathe and no one is even noticing. This was last night. This was me. .
Over the past few years, I’ve learned a variety of ways to heal and recover from my #depression
. I’ve learned some things that trigger me. I’ve also learned I still have a lot of triggers I don’t even realize. I’ve learned to notice these days/nights/moments coming on and what helps. Mostly, I’ve learned it is 100% okay not to be okay 24/7. I’ve learned that even though sharing this picture and my thoughts from last night with y’all make me feel soooo vulnerable, we HAVE to #breakthestigma
