This was a beautifully presented #bentobox
with several varieties of sushi in it. Opening this box was a joy - unwrapping the paper around it released the aroma of vinegary sushi rice. And then, the colors and the textures! I've eaten many cheap bento boxes in my life, but this one was an anticipatory experience beyond those other boxes.
And it was cheap - around 860 yen - and there's a reason for that. The slices of fish are really thin. Still, every piece of fish was delicious. I remember the mackerel especially, cold and spiked with rich umami flavor. And the rice lived up to the promise made when I opened the box, soft, vinegary, flavorful.
We bought this from Mitsukoshi in the #ginza
district of #tokyo
looking for something to eat. If I get a chance to go back, I will take a picture and write about that.
