👀 A LOOK BACK 👀 With 2018 almost coming to a close, here's an honest year-end physique update: I'm not satisfied. 😒 •• • BW 65 kg / 143 lb 😅 S 111 kg / 245 lb (meh 🙃) B 84 kg / 185 lb (don't laugh 😒) D 156.5 kg / 345 lb (eh 😤) •• • I did miss my Deadlift goal of 165.6 kg / 365 lb by end of 2018, but this is still the strongest I've ever been. 💪 •• • That being said, I've had some personal issues going on in life, and stress affects my appetite and sleep VERY easily. Closing out 2018 at a very lean 143 lb body weight, and my strength is starting to stall with inconsistent training/diet. 😞 •• • This post is all about personal accountability. I was pretty inconsistent with my diet this year. I'll be working on that more in 2019. I'm also making it a goal to post more often in 2019! Did you accomplish what you wanted in 2018? Personal goals? Professional goals? Fitness goals? 🤔 •• • Whatever your goals are, you don't have to wait for a new year to roll around to get started. Make some goals for your health, wealth, love, and happiness. The best time to start becoming a better you was yesterday. The next best time is NOW. Start EARLY. Start NOW. Handstand walking drill. Here, I am working on weight transfer. Biggest thing is you want to keep a nice active strong shoulder the entire time. You will see in the middle of the vidoe of how you DO NOT want to look doing this drill. You can see I have sagging shoulders and I am "heavy" on my hands. If you want to get to a handstand walk, you must have a very good, confident free handstand hold!! During the drill you want to shift weight from one side to the other while again, maintaining an active shoulder with the arm that is supporting you. Keep your body tight! Legs together, feet pointed, legs straight and think long and tall body! Head is always neutral. 🎄 Fitmas Day 14: Flexibility vs. Mobility🎄 . A lot of people use these terms interchangeably, but they, in fact, do not mean the same thing. . 🧘🏻‍♀️Flexibility is being able to move through a range of motion passively. 🤸🏻‍♀️Mobility is having strength and control through a range of motion. . My favorite example to demonstrate this is with a resting squat. Swipe! ➡️To see flexibility, lie on your back on the floor and pull your knees towards your armpits. Most people can get their legs relatively high in this position. This position simulates a squat, and shows your passive range of motion. ➡️To see your mobility, or strength and control in that same position, start from standing and lower into a resting squat, keeping your feet flat on the floor. . Did you get your legs to the same position as you did laying down? Did your heels come up? Did you fall over? . If you struggle to get into the full position, you can modify and use assistance as you practice, such as holding onto straps/wall/stick, or elevating your heels and gradually working your way down. . Why should you practice this pose? It has great benefits to your health, including: ✔️Back pain relief ✔️Increased ankle mobility ✔️Stronger hips and glutes ✔️Improved posture . Rest days, positive outlook or negative outlook? I’ve had to take the past few days off due to battling an injury. If I was the person I was 2 years ago, I would have never been able to take 3+ days off in a row. I hated missing the gym. I felt like it was going to impact my goals in a negative way. Fast forward to today & rest days are the best thing to happen to me & my body. You cannot & will not grow without giving your body adequate rest periods. Although I still only typically rest 1 to 2 days a week, when I start to feel like I’m getting an injury or am super sore, I will listen to my body & rest it when needed. Granted, there does come a point when it can get frustrating. When you have something causing you so much pain & keeping you from succeeding at your goals it can really be a struggle. I am going on a week of being in pain & not knowing what is going on. It has now come down to listening to my body & keep resting or to try & push through it hoping it gets better & risk making things worse. It is a frustraing battle but I know that I would rather take a week off from the gym than make things worse & be out of the gym for a month. I may be going crazy not being able to workout but sometimes you have to do things you don’t want to do. So just remember that rest days aren’t bad and at the end of the day they are more of a positive impact to your goals than a negative impact. So here we are! After a 3 month “bulk” I am up 12lbs, including some bodyfat! Next 12wks I will be cutting down, cutting out sugars and introducing cardio back into my regimen. I have not done ANY cardio in the last 3 months and that is on purpose. Final weigh in was 192lbs at 5’7” short 😂😜 Looking forward to the shreds and feel very happy with my progress up until this point! Hopefully the weights continue to move gracefully and the bodyfat melts away! Unfortunately the food in my location is definitely not made for aesthetics and basically sustenance 😂😂😂 So I will make do with what I am served and add in some @bodybuildingcom Signature Line protein shakes when the food is sub-par! Rounding out my 2018 going under the knife 🔪 tomorrow. Injury can put such a damper on your momentum. It’s entirely up to you how you chose to let it affect you. One of my goals this years was to learn handstands. Was on a roll to until I dislocated my shoulder in June (unrelated). I chose not to let that affect all the other things I had going on. I was in the middle of a cut and tossing around the idea of competing. In the gym you just have to do what you can, be a good PT patient😉, and nail your nutrition. That’s where I put my focus. I was so relieved when my shoulder was progressing so well and completely shattered when it started to regress!!! We go into fix up the labrum and ligament damage tomorrow 🙈and it can’t come soon enough. Rehab will be a long road but I’m ready to get it all back. In the meantime I’ll still be kicking my nutritions ass. But what I often neglect to do is REFLECT on my decision after. And that's SO important so you know whether you made the right one or not! . I toggled back and forth SO MUCH on my decisions to give coaching a try. It now seems so silly because it was by far the BEST decision of my life! 💫💫 . To say the last year had been a tough one would be an understatement, but I SWEAR I wouldn't be handling life the same way right now if it weren't for my involvement in this business. . So I decided to write it out on paper and here's what I came up with... . What I've LOST: 💫 Worry 💫 Negativity 💫 Fear 💫 Addiction to the scale . What I've GAINED: 🌸 Strength-- both physical AND emotional 🌸 Confidence 🌸 Friendships 🌸 Support 🌸 Positivity 🌸 Stress relief 🌸 A whole lot of HAPPY 😊 . These things are SO MUCH MORE important to me than pounds and inches. THIS is why I do what I do. To better myself and to help others find the same gains and losses using their fitness as a means to do it! 💖 . The New Year is right around the corner, which means opportunity for a great start, a change of direction, a world of possibilities! . I haven’t done a physique update in a long time so here it is lol 😅 I’m currently sitting at 111.8lbs which is still pretty far off from my pre-cancer weight of 130lbs but overall I have been feeling the best I have EVER felt🙌🏻 In the last year, I have gained 14 pounds and watching my body slowly fill back out has been FREAKING AWESOME SAUCE!!💪🏻 Little by little, I have been gaining my strength back and I have been feeling more and more like an animal in the gym 😤 I still have a ways to go to get to my pre-cancer body but I am so stoked (did I just say stoked?) at the progress I have made!
