🐍 1,2,3, La Cobra! 🐍. Ya que las cobras están a la orden del día, no quisimos quedarnos fuera de onda y les compartimos como hacer la postura de la cobra, más conocida como Bhujangasana. Para realizar esta postura:. 1) Recostate en el suelo boca abajo, con las piernas juntas y estiradas y los brazos a ambos lados del cuerpo. Llevá las manos en el suelo debajo de los hombros y mantén los codos cerca de tu cuerpo. Presiona la parte superior de los pies, los muslos y el pubis firmemente en el suelo. . 2) Inhalando lentamente, estira los brazos para levantar el pecho y el estómago hasta donde puedas, dejando el bajo vientre apoyado, ayudándote de los músculos abdominales y los dorsales, con las palmas de las manos en línea con los hombros. . 3) Flexiona el tronco tanto como puedas hacia atrás, pero evitando que el abdomen se separe del suelo. Los brazos permanecen flexionados y la cabeza puede quedar recta o inclinarse hacia atrás. Hoy comenzamos con la postura "Bhujangasana o cobra" que promueve la apertura del pecho y la fortaleza de la espalda y es buena para corregir las malas posturas que nos provocan dolores de espalda. «Tumbad@ boca abajo, junta los pies y pon las manos en el suelo, apoyando las palmas a los lados de tu pecho. Levanta la mirada hacia el techo levantando a su vez la espalda como una cobra y preocúpate de hacer la fuerza con la espalda. Las manos solamente deben servirte como apoyo para no perder la postura, pero deberías poder levantarlas del suelo y mantenerte en la misma altura, no se trata de empujar con ellas. BABY COBRA || COBRA || UPWARD FACING DOG I see a combination of these poses in class so I wanted to clarify what makes each unique and which is more suitable for individual yoga students. Many times students come in with the goal of practicing upward facing dog because that is what they typically see when yoga is promoted, but many new students lack the muscle stability and flexibility to practice the posture safely. Begin with baby cobra, then move to cobra, then upward facing dog. Build shoulder, chest, back and abdominal strength and flexibility before moving onto the next posture. BABY COBRA & COBRA Be sure to pull the elbows and shoulders back away from the ears. Squeeze the arms in by the ribcage. Focus on creating space for the breath and length in the body. Press the tops of the thighs and tops of the feet into the mat to create length throughout the back side of the body. Press the hands into the floor and gently lift the chest, only going as far as the back extensors and abdominal muscles can support the torso. Feet can be together or apart (dear yoga teachers, it is not a requirement that the feet be together, if you believe this to be true then you should maybe start looking at students as individuals and realize all bodies and pelvises are different). . UPWARD FACING DOG Arms are straight with chest long and shoulders pulling back and away from the ears. Hands and tops of the feet press into the mat to lift the thighs off the mat. The sweet blissful heart opening named cobra 🐍 for day two of #fireinsideyogiis - If you are not close to me, you may not know that for the past few weeks I have been recovering from a really gnarly concussion. This injury forced me to do drop all responsibility’s, rest and heal my body. For a week I pretty much slept, listened to mantra music, guided meditations and tried to soothe my pounding head. - In this time of rest and healing my body became extremely stiff and sciatica returned igniting shooting pain through my low back and legs. - As I have made much improvement in my recovery, I am grateful for the capabilities of my body and a subtle pose like cobra to open up through my closed chest. - Ahhh, it feels so good to be capable to move my body again. #bhujangasana #yoga #recovering #cobra #heartopen #healing #yum

Bhujangasana or Cobra Pose is a reclining back-bending asana in hatha yoga. Cobra Pose: STEP-BY-STEP: Start by lying on the floor on your belly. Extend your legs behind you with the tops of your feet on the floor. Place your hands palm down on the floor a couple inches away from your shoulders. Squeeze your elbows towards your body, rather than letting them splay out to the sides. Press firmly down through the tops of your feet and your thighs. Draw your tailbone toward the ground. On an inhale, reach your chest forward and up. Draw your shoulders away from your ears. Stay here, or press into your palms and begin to straighten your elbow. Keep your legs engaged as you lift your chest forward and up. If you feel too much of the pose in your lower back, bend the elbows more. If you feel too much in your shoulders, focus on engaging the legs and keeping the shoulder blades drawing down. Stay in the pose for up to 30 seconds. Cobra: the nice thing of doing yoga in a hammock is that you can play with gravity and use it in favor of your intention. For example to make the cobra ( Bhujangasana for advance yoguis) the gravity can pull you towards an opening of your chest. So entering into the position you may use your arms and hands to prevent a quick over extension (check the second picture) The other interesting benefit of Doing this upsidedown cobra is that the traction of gravity pull the vertebras apart creating more space in between them, allowing to open even more than in a traditional cobra and is safer (if you go slow and listening to your body) For this variation of back bend cobra you have to be careful to not make hiper lordosis ( over arching your lumbar ) In my case is Easy becouse my lumbar is quite stiff and straight so this posture compensate my body quite well but still I have to enter it with the caution that deserve my body.❤

Two beautiful examples of variations to an asana 🌱 To the left is a beautiful bhujangasana variation, instead of pressing into the palms to potentially strain the lower back through over extension Linda is relying on the strength in her lower back to lift her chest consciously, perhaps a bit of stabilization through the palms but never too much, legs strong, chest shining forward. 🌱 To the right is me in a foward fold variation, palms pressed together and fingers interlaced, drawing the shoulder blades away from the midline to round the back forward, belly button in to the spine, legs strong. Exploring scapular movement while working into the hammies. 🌱 Yoga doesn’t look the same for everyone and it isn’t supposed to. The reason why we do all the asana practice is so that we can do more of sitting practice, completely at ease. —- Asana practice helps us build and maintain healthy, strong and stable body. If done consciously it also brings peace to the mind - which’s depths can be more explored in the sitting practices like pranayama - breath practices, pratyahara - senses withdrawal, dharana - concentration of the mind, and dhyana - contemplation (meditation). —- If we stop at the asana practice, we’re depriving ourselves of great tools (and thus possibilities) for development and healing. —- #yoga #pranayama #pratyahara #dhyana #dharana #ashtangayoga #rajayoga #asanapractice #chaturanga #bhujangasana #utthanpristhasana #balasana #setuasana #ardhapinchamayurasana
