Here at Team Gerard - LaunchPad Cycling, today's training is our GROUP RIDE. -
For me (Chad), training-wise, the purpose of the weekly GROUP RIDE is to have at least one workout where I am not in control, and am subject to someone else's speed and power, much like a bike race. (THANK YOU, Galen Erickson!!!) -
Hopefully, on the ride, there is someone, or some group, that is stronger and faster. If this isn't the case, I put an extra water bottle on my bike, or extra lights, or fenders, or a bag of quarters... and I take advantage of the opportunity, and give myself a handicap (like, training extra hard the day before). Ideally, I still try to ride as if I'm the strongest, or atleast able to keep pace with the fastest. No coppin' out. Stand tall, til I fall. -
Hopefully, I bite off a little more than I can chew. Not enough to choke and die. But enough to push me in ways I wouldn't go on my own. -
And truly, that's the benefit of keeping such talented and inspired company. -
Have fun out there today!!! -
