Today's theme of #big
was a hard one for me to come up with a photo for. Of course, hoop skirts are big - but, that seemed too easy. When I think of something "big" I think of an important event or experience, something that moves me and affects my life in some fashion (fashion! 😁) Or something I greatly look forward to. Not gonna lie, doing historic events with six kids is A LOT of work. It's hard, it's time consuming and I often wonder if it's really worth the effort. I often dread events just as much as I look forward to them (shhh don't tell..) because - it's freaking exhausting. But I never regret going out, even if I do tell myself sometimes "never again!" There is always an again. 😁 But to be totally transparent, it's been a heck of a long time since I looked forward to an event without bringing my children along. This picture is from my childfree days back in 2005...and my first full time job working at a state historic site. I look back on those days with a lot of joy and thankfulness for the experiences that working there brought me...whether it was teaching a bonnet making class with a few little girls, handsewing in a sunny corner, creating clothing for the mannequin displays or cutting the grass outside. It was definitely a big thing in my life and I got to wear big skirts at work! Win.
