Literally as we entered Cunnamulla, there were four of these funky chickens feeding on the roadside. I couldn't believe my eyes! They even waited patiently as we turned the car around, I got my gear out of the backseat & fired off a couple of snaps from the passenger seat across my chauffeur, Chris :p
This is a full frame image, it does suffer from a little heat haze, but I'll take any opportunity I can get with an uncommon species such as this.
Bustards are ground dwelling birds, with the larger males getting up to 1.2m in height with a very impressive 2.3m wingspan!
