I was hiding in some bushes for this Eurasian Teal (Wintertaling) to cross the lake. After a few minutes he was crossing the lake, but he saw me so he immediately turned around and he was gone...

The Cape Teal, Anas capensis, is found in open wetlands in sub-Saharan Africa. They are non-migratory.
The Cape Teal measures 44 - 46 cm in length. It is very pale and mainly grey, with a browner back and pink on the bill. Juveniles lack the pink markings on the bill..
Males and females look alike.
Breeding / Nesting
They place their nests on the ground, typically placed under vegetation and near water.

Since we featured that Red-tailed Hawk, we agreed we should feature the bird that flushed him toward us. This Eastern Kingbird, along with its mate, mobbed that hawk from the shrubs toward the trail where we got excellent photos! .

I liked this pose the most 😍
Did you know that you can train the cockatoo? He is one of most intelligent birds
Who gave juncos permission to be so cute?!
For my last 🏝Beach Week🏝 feature I wanted to share a tidbit about shorebirding in Australia that should interest the birders among you.
What was 🤯 to me was that in the spring/summer you get resident Australian shorebirds in their full breeding plumage standing beside northern hemisphere migrants in their winter plumage. What? Shorebirds that breed in the arctic during Northern Hemisphere summer, migrate to Australia for the winter (which is summer in Aus. and when the residents are breeding). Confusing right?
If you’re still following, the bird in this photo isn’t an Aussie resident or a northern hemisphere migrant. It’s a Double-banded Plover that breeds in New Zealand and migrates to Australia in winter. Just to be extra confusing 😀
Thanks for following along for a walk on the beach, it’s been fun sharing these photos and stories 🏝

But not the slower... 😉
He jumps to one pine branch to another without getting tired of it. Get a shot of him is seriously difficult 😂
