to the first bird that got me seriously into wildlife photography - the snowy owl. Late last winter and into early spring a whole bunch of these guys were hanging out at Pointe Mouillee, and with a tip that one was nearby Mia and I walked along until we came upon this majestic bird. It let us get remarkably close, until flying away a bit down the path, not before soaring incredibly close to the surface of the nearby water. We would creep along the side of the dike to try to get closer, but the sun was at its back and it scuttled off once again. We saw more of these snowy owls later in the season, but nothing would beat this amazing first encounter.
