Today I routed a gorgeous Black Korina (Limba) #Warmoth #strat
body to accommodate the new #Fender
Elite neck with the heel mount truss wheel. Fits like a glove, and I LOVE this compound radius!!
Just got a package from @stewmac_guitar
. A maple neck blank, a couple hotrod truss rods, and some pre slotted pre radiused fretboards. Going to attempt to make my first necks. I have maple, pau ferro, and black limba all with rosewood boards. Next step is making some templates, designing a headstock shape, and then lots of filing, rasping, and sanding.
Rough cut out a few bodies today. Here's the black limba (korina) with some of the hardware that I have laying around. It's going to end up with a half Tele bridge and most likely two Mojo UK Mojotrons with a Tele neck and controls.
Got around to making plans for this black korina blank. Cutting it close with the Firebird shape, but I've been loving playing my telebird Space Cowboy lately. The other two are super light pine bodies, so hopefully the change in wood will get rid of some of the neck dive. Also love the natural center stripe instead of the raised center.
Roasted Maple, Bloodwood and Black Korina.
Black Limba. A board I wanted to cut, but decided it would look and feel cooler if I snapped it. So I snapped it. And it looks and feels cooler. (😎 Go Me.) - This is my first Christmas as a properly self employed artist. It has been steep learning curve after steep learning curve. Lots of ideas have stuck, lots of ideas laughed at me when I tried to shove them into the sunlight and just rolled their eyes at me and said Naaaaahhh. Lots of things I won't try again, lots of things I will put more energy into. Lots of breaking even as I try to figure pricing out.
No regrets. No real frustration either, just letting the universe take the lead and seeing where I go. No despair, no self-abuse when I can't do something I wanted to do, no naysayers or jerks. All in all one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Still haven't quite broken the back of how to sell online and in person simultaneously, but I don't like instruction or advice so I'm winging it. And it is awkward. But it is my life now, and I bloody love it I do.
This piece is already purchased. I have a big art class this weekend and a market the following weekend, so there isn't much (any) online at the moment while I keep my stock local and In Real Life. But if you see a piece as I'm posting, just drop a message if you're interested.
Thank you xx
