@swarthydjedi89 "...that the darker male is viewed as more powerful and more substantially virile and masculine in the white supremacy system/culture is again attested to by the fact that the white female's idealized male is described by the white collective as "tall, dark and handsome!" The word dark does indeed refer to a high(er) level of melanin skin-pigmentation. The importance of the dark man as a symbol of genital and genetic adequacy in the white supremacy system/culture was the basis for the crowd-drawing power and significance of two of the most important movie heroes of the last century in the U.S.- Rudolph Valentino and Elvis Presley. The case of Presley removes all doubt from my thesis because his style of signing and of moving his genital area was strictly copied, as best he could, from Black male singers. In the case of Valentino, two of his most important roles were in the movies The Shiek and Son of the Shirk, wherein he played non-white, North African men (Arabs). Valentino also played a Moor. His great appeal to the white female (and male) was that he was dark and made up to appear even darker. Supposedly, he was also a master lover." #blacklivesmatter #blackpower #melanin #wakeup #love #sandrabland #blackisbeautiful #blackunity #blacklove #blackconsciousness #alllivesmatter #sayhername #feminism #blackpride #amerikkka #justiceorelse #racism #blackhistory #policebrutality #africa
We are a week away! Join us for a day of action & a new social contract for Black women! On September 29th, 2018 Black women (cis, trans, other identities) and comrades will unite and lock arms and march unapologetically with all others who want to pull the foot of oppression off our necks. The black women of Pensacola and our accomplices stand in solidarity with the national March For Black Women occurring in Washington, DC. We understand that showing up for and centering Black women means eradicating us all from the oppressive systems that were never built for our progression. We will meet at the fountain in front of Community Maritime Park at 2pm. See you there! β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ #Empowerbw #melanin #BlackGirlMagic #myblackisbeautiful #melaninpoppin #BlackGirlsDo #Blackgirlsrock #melaninmagic ✨#blackjoy #blacklivesmatter #unapologeticallyblack #BlackWomenRise #Pensacola

Had a conversation this week in which a person told me that the place they grew up is notoriously racist, but she doesn't find that to be true because where she's from, her friends and family are "really open-minded" about other races. I just half-smiled. I didn't have the time that day. This comment was intended to be a nice one. The impact was not. My blackness is not something to be open-minded about. I would keep an open mind about trying a restaurant I heard mixed reviews about, not about someone's ethnicity or race. I don't need to be given a fair chance, liked, or treated equally despite the fact that I'm Black. You don't get a prize for not being racist. Just don't be racist. Support your local Black Farmers!!! @footprintfarms Cindy Ayers Elliott is probably not the first person to have a life-altering epiphany after hearing Michelle Obama speak. For Ayers Elliott, the aha moment came around 2010 at a conference she attended in Washington where Obama spoke about Let’s Move!, her healthy foods initiative. Ayers Elliott had been invited to hear about the farm bill’s newest efforts due to her recent job as CEO of the Delta Foundation. Of Obama’s message, she said, β€œI really bought into that hook, line and sinker.” She remembered thinking, β€œThis is the way we’ve got to make a difference to save our children from health disparities; from diabetes and hypertension.” When Ayers Elliott, who now runs Foot Print Farms in Jackson, Mississippi, started looking at statistics, she saw that her own state was not immune to America’s health crisis.Β β€œWow, everything she’s talking about is right here,” Ayers Elliott said while speaking to us at her farm. β€œThe problem was identified; the opportunity was given. So now what would the solution be? In this case, it had to be access to healthy foods.” (Source: HuffPost) #blackmenlove #buyblack #buyblackowned #buyblackchallenge #blackexcellence #buyblackfirst #spendblack #spendblackdollars #blackwomenmatter #blackfarmer #oneunitedbank #blackmoneymatters #blackmoneylove #supportblackbusiness #supportblackowned #supportblackartist #blackenterprise #blacklivesmatter #blackentrepreneurs #blackgirlsrock #blackmenlove #blackbusinessesmatter #purchaseblack #blackonblackfriday #webuyblack #blackvegans #blackfarmers #blackbusinessfriday #chadwickboseman #lupitanyongo #wakandaforever

It's been two years since Keith Scott was shot by a police officer in my city Charlotte, NC while waiting to pick up his child. We need to remember. I witnessed (and continue to witness) so much gaslighting from the media and people who fail to acknowledge how rampantly embedded racism is in us as a society. I realize as a white person I will never fully understand this issue from a person of colors perspective but I would rather risk speaking from a place of ignorance than saying nothing at all. I spent the following few days after the shooting glued to my phone watching every live feed (it was the first time I realized a live feed could have any purpose) of the protests that I could (I should have been at the protest), I was so proud of my city and all the brave people for taking a stand for black people but I was also horrified that as soon as I would see something with my own eyes, like a protestor being shot while surrounded by a swat team, the videos were removed and the news would instantly turn things around, in that instance pinning the shooting on another protestor even arresting someone for the murder days later despite the fact there were armed swat officers everywhere who would have acted immediately if that was the case, always saying whatever necessary to protect the law enforcement and the comfort of white people. I honestly don't know if we have made any progress since that day, mostly it feels like we continue to go backwards (especially in the Trump regime) but all I know is we have to acknowledge that someone can be murdered for being black with little to no repercussions, that people can be so distracted by debating how people are protesting or focus on the small details that could paint the deceased as a bad person so we can ignore that they didn't deserve to die so we can ignore what is actually going on, racism. I have no idea how I as a person can help other than continue to try live my life with love, speak up when I can, shut up when it's not my place to speak and continue to educate myself. #blacklivesmatter #blacklivesstillmatter #blackliveshabealwaysmattered #keithscott #rememberkeithscott
