Ketoprak (Javanese: Kethoprak) is a theatrical genre of Java featuring actors who may also sing to the accompaniment of the gamelan. It draws its stories from Javanese history and romances. - wikipedia.
The following weeks I'll be featuring photos taken at Kampung Seni THR Surabaya. Photos of the place and people participating in Ketoprak show. One of local traditions which unfortunately is slowly dying. Despite broken down place and lack of interest by current people, the participants are lively and happy to be part of the show. I hope my photos could help raise awareness of this tradition.
The show must go on!
Film is not dead. Somewhere in Indonesia... This month I'll be posting the photos taken with Fujifilm Quicksnap 27 exposures single use disposable camera. It was a fun experiment and got me reminiscing the time I used film camera a lifetime ago.
