So, after grabbing lunch with @tracy_fitrn , slipped away to the gym during family hotel rest time. 💥HOW TO GET “TONED”!!!!💥 - 👩Alright, this post is completely dedicated to all the women out there who are looking to get that toned look. But first, let’s establish what toned really means. “Toned” is a term that women use to describe a look that means, more muscle, less fat, look, am I right? - 🤔But how do we achieve that look that most women are so desperately chasing? Let’s first talk about what ABSOLUTELY NOT TO DO. - You see, most women think just pouring on the cardio will do the trick. This is the worst advice you could ever give somebody that’s trying to get “toned”. I’d actually recommend to do as little cardio as possible because it’s so time consuming and you could use that time making gains in the weight room.  No you won’t get bulky. That’s legit impossible. You women don’t have nearly enough testosterone to even build 1/4 as much muscle as men do. Also, from the woman I’ve worked with in my coaching program I’ve seen a staggering amount of impatience, not sure if this is in women’s nature of what?... Stay patient my girls! Embrace the process. - SOOOO what you should you do? First off, lift weights, 2-4x a week should be good for most women, I have 2 female clients who lift 5x a week just because they want to! Oh, and train every body part at least 2-3x a week! - Track your nutrition, if you’re tryna lose fat, stay in a moderate deficit and lift weights, that will make you lose fat and build muscle if you’re new to lifting weights. - Sleep tight! You recover when you’re sleeping so please, make sure to dial in your sleep!! 7-9 hours a night and optimize sleep quality! - Lastly, like I said, embrace the process! Burning fat while maintaining muscle tissue, on the other hand, is a little more complicated. _ Gradual Calorie Deficit: The first thing most dieters do when entering a “cutting phase” is decrease their calories and increase their physical activity. Bad move. Weight loss is simply a matter of energy balance. If we can burn more calories than we consume, we lose weight; however, if we want to maintain our hard earned muscle mass, we’ve got to be a bit more strategic. _ Bottom Line: Take a slow, gradual approach to your fat loss. Start off by adding one 15 minute session of HIIT per week. When weight loss stalls, either increase the physical activity, slightly, or decrease the calories a bit - but never do both at the same time. _ Eat Enough Protein: It’s no secret that we don’t need as much protein to build muscle as we once believed. The science is pretty clear that most people won’t need more than about 0.6g per pound of bodyweight to build muscle, but here’s the kicker: a study conducted by AUT University concluded that energy restricted athletes will need a bit more. The consensus is that somewhere around 1-1.4g per pound of fat free mass is necessary to maintain muscle tissue when dieting. _ Bottom Line: Try to get at least 1g per pound of bodyweight in protein, consistently. _ Train for Strength: If we train with light weight for an extended period of time, we lose the strength and size adaptations we worked so hard for. When life puts you in tough situations, don't say "Why me" say "Try me" Started today my first outdoor bar training. It was very different then what I usually do in the gym.
