Post 3 of 3: Anterior Pelvic Tilt/Posterior Pelvic Tilt OBLIQUES . I hope the previous two posts made it clear that whether you're in APT or PPT you should include exercises in your workout that involve the opposite pelvic placement. This way you'll strengthen muscles that tend to underwork, as well as surprise your nervous system and movement habits. . So here's a video on how to work your obliques in both cases. . For PPT: Brace your abs and keep the legs in a slight angle towards the back to engage the external obliques. Make sure your glute medius is also engaged and keep a slight arch on your lower back. . For APT: Scoop your abs and have the legs slightly forward, kind of a banana shape, to engage your TA, RA and internal obliques. Keep the ribs in and the side of your waist that's on the mat engaged too, try not to have it collapsed. . You can skip any additional weight. I prefer using the #fitball as it also engages your adductors and concentration. You could use leg weights--I tend to avoid them until someone decides to make Joe Pilates' original leg weight design, which was basically an iron sole! .
