I’m not one to jump on a bandwagon, but my god I can’t get this book out of my mind. I’ve fallen into a deep pit of melancholy despair at the thought of not knowing how Connell and Marianne will end up. I’m glad I hadn’t read all the reviews prior to reading and the book fell, pleasantly into my lap and I had no prior indication of what the story was even about. It seems, going by the amazon reviews that people either loved it or hated it. There’s nothing particular obvious or original about this story, but the characters have drawn me in so tightly and I feel like finishing the book was like losing two old friends who thoughts and worries I could identify with. It was a comforting read, and not one ill forget in a rush. What were your thoughts?

Selective hearing comes in handy these days 😁
Seriously though It feels great when you walk through the halls reading and people just walk out of your way cause they all know you won’t move for them 😅 ya feel me?
Everyone laughs when Horton the Elephant offers to sit on Mayzie bird’s egg while she goes on holiday.
Horton’s kindness and faithfulness are sorely tested when he, and the egg, are kidnapped and sold to a circus – but his reward for being faithful is more wonderful than he could ever have dreamed!
With his unique combination of hilarious stories, zany pictures and riotous rhymes, Dr Suess has been delighting young children and helping them learn to read for over fifty years. Creator of the wonderfully anarchic Cat in the Hat, and ranked among the UK’s top ten favourite children’s authors.
As part of a major rebrand programme, HarperCollins is relaunching Dr Seuss’s best-selling books.
In response to consumer demand, bright new cover designs incorporate much-needed guidance on reading levels.
The standard paperbacks divide into three reading strands – Blue Back Books for parents to share with young children, Green Back Books for budding readers to tackle on their own, and Yellow Back Books for older, more fluent readers to enjoy. This is a Yellow Back book.

Rise and shine, book nerds! 🌞
🇬🇧I’m not inspired this morning, I stayed up late, reading, and now my brain is not working 🙃 What do you do to wake up? I don’t drink coffee, I don’t like it, but I drink “mate”. I don’t know if it really wakes me up but I feel like my day can’t start without my “mate” 🤷🏻♀️
What are you currently reading? Are you liking it so far?

My first read of 2019 happens to be a comic! Thanks to the lovely Tamsien (@babblingbooks
) for recommending The Mental Load by French artist @emma_clit
Emma uses her clever comics to talk about the mental load that many women tend to carry in keeping a household, kids & financial obligations in order. I’d like to think that Australia is more progressive than some of Emma’s examples but many of them ring true & had me chuckling.
What was your first read of 2019?
on a weekly laundry+reading basis : the fierce and fantastic #bellhooks
African-American author and feminist activist, marked in childhood by the laws of racial segregation, including going to a public school reserved for blacks. She has written on many subjects such as pedagogy, sorority, the restoration of self-esteem, white imperialism, popular culture, and helped many to understand intersectionality and the necessity for black feminism to have a voice. « Am I not a woman ? » This is the question that Sojourner Truth, a former slave, black abolitionist of the US, asked in 1851 in a famous speech, calling feminist and abolitionist of the various oppressions imposed to black women. Heiress of this fight, Bell Hooks describes in this book the process of marginalization of black women and criticizes the white feminisms and their difficulty to take into account the oppressions crossed. A master piece of « black feminism » and a necessary reading for all at a time when, in France and around the world, a new generation of Afro-feminists is rising. ✊🏾✊🏼✊🏿✊✊🏽 @jesuiscamillelou
My current read. How I wish I had read this 3 years ago and told my overly sensitive and emotional-self that not everything is worth giving a f* for!
Quite a few readers have emailed me to tell me they’re so sad to finish The Thomas Security Series (once the next book is out). I am too, but I’m also excited for what is to come.
Firstly, I originally said that Mak and James’s story was finished after the JT series, so I guess you never know (but I honestly have no plans to write any further novels with these characters)
Secondly, I’ve been turning over a plot for a new series that I’m SO excited about. New characters, new plot, but all of the romantic suspense and thriller traits that I’m known for.
Here’s a tiny insight into the new series. It will not be historical, it will be set in today’s world.
A forbidden love.
A royal family in despair.
Rules were not made to be broken,
But he will break them all.
Witajcie 😊 Dzisiaj mamy dla Was książkę pt. Zacisze Gosi autorką jest Katarzyna Michalak. Jest to oczywiście romans❤. “We cannot alter objective facts. But subjective interpretations can be altered as much as one likes”.
This book isn’t going to change your life overnight and no book can. Only you can change your life. This book however, can help bring your mind to a different perspective. Inner peace and happiness still exist despite being in a society where narcissism and admiration are the metric to success and prosperity. The way you see the world and judge your personal value within it is ultimately your responsibility.

After recommendations from numerous people who occupy various spaces in my life, I decided to give this a read. Pape provides readers with a simple process that is applicable regardless of current wealth status and he does so with good humour and compelling motivation. I’m grateful for the encouragement to read it and highly recommend you do the same if you haven’t.
Do you know where to buy & sell thrifted books in Jakarta? 📚🤓
Studio assistant Pearl distracting me from reading... or maybe she wants to make some art? Recently inspired after returning to Lunder Arts Center at Lesley Art + Design… going through the vast library I accumulated throughout my MFA. Revisiting books and taking more time with them.
This pioneering book explores the notion of 'radical decadence' as concept, aesthetic and lived experience, and as an analytical framework for the study of contemporary feminist textile art. Gendered discourses of decadence that perpetuate anxieties about women's power, consumption and pleasure are deconstructed through images of drug use, female sexuality and 'excessive' living, in artworks by several contemporary textile artists.
Art + Fear
"This is a book about making art. Ordinary art. Ordinary art means something like: all art not made by Mozart. After all, art is rarely made by Mozart-like people; essentially—statistically speaking—there aren't any people like that. Geniuses get made once-a-century or so, yet good art gets made all the time, so to equate the making of art with the workings of genius removes this intimately human activity to a strangely unreachable and unknowable place. For all practical purposes making art can be examined in great detail without ever getting entangled in the very remote problems of genius."
Surrealism has long been seen as its founder, André Breton, wanted it to be seen: as a movement of love and liberation. In Compulsive Beauty, Foster reads surrealism from its other, darker side: as an art given over to the uncanny, to the compulsion to repeat and the drive toward death. Next Foster develops a theory of the surrealist image as a working over of a primal fantasy. Then a brief conclusion he discusses the fate of surrealism today in a world become surrealistic.

A Brave New World
New acquisition, and its a beauty. Easton Press green leather bound large format edition illustrated by Mara McAfee.
Its interesting to me how in such polarising and divisive times socially and politically across the world and at home (I live in the UK) classic books of dystopian fiction are seeing a resurgence. I guess a good book is timeless and we can all do to find some solace between the pages of a great book.
