Title: Goddess of Love (Goddess Summoning #5
Author: P.C. Cast
Synopsis: Pea Chamberlain needs a makeover—shoes, hair, clothes, make-up, everything—especially if she wants to attract sexy fireman Griffin DeAngelo at the fireman’s masked ball. And there's no one better suited to coax Pea out of her pod than the Goddess of Love, whom she invokes in a moment of desperation.
After eons of helping others find love, Venus has no problem working her magic on Pea. But when the goddess herself starts falling head over heels for Griffin, it will take an act of divine intervention to set this love triangle to rights...
Comment: This was such a light, funny and sexy read! Recommended if you’re looking for a ‘happy feel-good story’.

Newt's Emerald.... 🌟1 Star
You are A Badass At Making Money..... 🌟🌟🌟 3 stars
👀I really have no idea how to feel about this novel. At first I was very uninterested. There are 3 different parts in the book and I didn't really start to get into the story until Part 2.
Part 1 of this novel was mostly about Winston's (the main character) daily life and explaining the Party and the Thoughtpolice. The Thoughtpolice were there to catch you in the act of Thoughtcrime and Doublethink. This really annoyed me because how are people not even allowed to have there own thoughts?! But then again it is a dystopian society so you're not really supposed to like what's going on. This part was very anticlimactic and I found myself trying not to fall asleep while reading.
Part 2 was much more intresting because we are introduced to a new love interest, Julia. I honestly hated Julia because even though she went against the Party, the rules she broke were unnecessary. If Julia wasn't in the story then things could have turned out better for Winston but then again, Julia is a nice twist to the story and adds some fun to the reading. ·
Part 3 was....how do I say it...mildly disappointing. Just because of the ending which I did not like at all.👀
⭐I would not recommend this book unless you like twisted dystopian society reads. Very unsatisfying. But I do think it was interesting and towards the end it had me wanting to read more.⭐

⭐This was a very interesting novel. At first I was not intrigued at all. I wasn't very fond of George and Lennie's relationship. George was definitely my least favorite character. He didn't have too many likable qualities. Now Lennie was a very interesting character. As you read, you start to notice that there is something wrong with the way he acts and I thought that was very interesting to try and find out what might be wrong with him. Curley's wife really added a twist to the story being a flirtatious "tart". The beginning of the novel was a bit anti-climatic. I was most intrigued by the ending which had a few unexpected deaths of certain characters. In my opinion, Lennie got his best ending because, looking at other circumstances, it could have been much worse. Overall, this novel was a fun read but not something I would consider reading again.⭐

Since we’re about midway through the year I’m gonna share my worst reads of the year so far. Just a heads up... of these five books only 2 of them did I actually strongly dislike. The other three were just not high on my list. Also I just want to say... just because I didn’t like these or love them doesn’t mean they aren’t great books... just NOT MY tastes. .
1. Cruel Prince- I gave it ⭐️⭐️... it was hard for me to finish this book and I know many love it. But the writing style just doesn’t work for me and honestly I didn’t like the characters or the plot. At first I kind of wanted to read TWK... but I’ve lost interest.
2. Truthwitch- This was another book I almost couldn’t finish it hovers between a ⭐️⭐️ and ⭐️⭐️⭐️ barely. I just felt like there wasn’t enough world building or explanations of things. I do think I will give Windwitch a try.
3. Sea Witch- I gave this one a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️ it was okay a little slow for my tastes. I will probably read Sea Witch Rising.
4. Unearthed- This book was fun but the instalove and the obsession with the two main characters was off putting and distracting from the story at times. I gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️. And I am undecided on reading the next book.
5. Daughter of the Pirate King- This book hovers between a ⭐️⭐️⭐️ and ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me. I actually really enjoyed it and only reason it’s on this list is because the rest of the books I’ve read this yeah still rate higher for me. But I would recommend this book. Loved the Second book and have just gotten her other book Warrior of the Wild .
What was your worst read for this year so far?

i’m currently twenty percent through kingsbane by claire legrand but i just got a hold of the audiobook so i’ll be able to finish it hopefully in the next week.
i just wanted to share the process i have to go through to read small print. i will either have to hold my phone up to the page and use the magnifier app that is built in on iphones, or i will take a picture of the page and just zoom in. both are tedious and really tiring on my eyes. otherwise i can use a document camera and monitor where the camera is on the page and the monitor shows me the book, but i can manipulate it so the text is big enough. without this tech, i wouldn’t be able to do anything other than appreciate the color of the cover and the texture of the book jacket.

✨Five years from now by Paige Toon✨
This book was so heartbreaking, tender, tense, happy, shocking and full of suspense all in one go! It’s a love story between Nell and Van, who grew up together when their parents fell in love and married, but then a disaster happens that tears them worlds apart. But every 5 years, they see one another again. New feelings develop between them but then they’re ripped apart again. It’s not one of those books with the happy ending you expect. I was really broken with the ending, it was so bittersweet and painful and happy but sad, which makes no sense unless you read the book lol. I can’t say much without spoiling it but it made me sad and I hoped for a different ending but I was full of suspense and on edge the entire way through the book. It was excellently written and I felt so connected to the characters, Paige Toons writing is beautiful!
I rate this book 4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 #paigetoon #fiveyearsfromnow #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookreviews #bookrating #bookratings #book #books #booklover #booklovers #booklove #bookworm #bookworms #bookwormsofinstagram #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookgeek #bookgeeks #honestbookreview #honestbookreviews #honestreviews #charityshopfind #charityshophaul #secondhandbooks #usedbooks #bookswap #newread #bookenthusiast #bibliophile
i cannot believe that i’m living this life right now. i’m at bookcon and i managed to not only get a bracelet and the six of crows print, i got to get it signed my leigh bardugo herself—and my copy of king of scars—i then got my number drawn out of the raffle and won a ninth house arc! i’m still shaking. when i got up to leigh, i asked her if there was any way i could get the arc in a way i could read, though, since the small print isn’t big enough for me, she said that there wasn’t, but she would send me an audiobook as soon as possible! i cannot believe how wonderful and accepting a person she is, and honestly meeting her made my life.
Well, not my best month 😒 but better than nothing, and it makes me more determined to make June a better reading month!
First I read Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier and I gave it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐! It was so good! I split it up and listened to the audio book and also read it physically. Either way is wonderful.
Then I read Miracle Creek by Angie Kim. I gave this one ⭐⭐⭐. It was a good story and very human characters, and I can't put my finger on why I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would.
And last, I listened to The Lying Game by Ruth Ware. This one also got ⭐⭐⭐ from me. I liked the plot, and most of the characters, except our main character who I hated. I loved the Muslim woman who was my favorite character, and wish we could have had the story from her point of view instead. Alot of things annoyed me but I want to keep this spoiler free.
I hope everyone had a better reading month than I did!! And as we begin June, happy reading!

I have to share more about Stepsister though. I *adored* this book! It has so many things I love. First of all, it's an amazing fairytale retelling (I'm a sucker for those). It's also got a bad-a** MC in Isabelle: she's strong, courageous, and I find her completely admirable even with and especially because of her flaws and because of her character growth. It tackles the question of Fate versus Chance or free will (and reminded me a little of The Adjustment Bureau as a result). Plus, it discusses how women are valued by society and whether or not they let how others see them define how they see and define themselves. It has so many powerful messages, especially for women (but most of which are also applicable to any marginalized group). It's available on Hoopla as an audiobook for free (as long as you have a library card), so there's nothing stopping you from reading it ASAP!!!

Book: The Rescue
Author: Nicholas Sparks
Synopsis: When confronted by raging fires or deadly accidents, volunteer fireman Taylor McAden feels compelled to take terrifying risks to save lives. But there is one leap of faith Taylor can’t bring himself to make: he can’t fall in love. For all his adult years, Taylor has sought out women who need to be rescued, women he leaves as soon as their crisis is over and the relationship starts to become truly intimate. When a raging storm hits his small Southern town, single mother Denise Holton’s car skids off the road. The young mom is with her four-year-old son Kyle, a boy with severe learning disabilities and for whom she has sacrificed everything. Taylor McAden finds her unconscious and bleeding, but does not find Kyle. When Denise wakes, the chilling truth becomes clear to both of them: Kyle is gone. During the search for Kyle, the connection between Taylor and Denise takes root. Taylor doesn’t know that this rescue will be different from all the others, demanding far more than raw physical courage. It will lead him to the possibility of his own rescue from a life lived without love and will require him to open doors to his past that were slammed shut by pain. This rescue will dare him to live life to the fullest by daring to love.

i just finished my rereading of the blood of olympus and all of the crossovers this morning instead of doing my homework. while doing so i have come to quite a few conclusions.
the first being that percy jackson and the heroes of olympus will forever be two of my favorite series. every time i think ‘hm they were good’ i will reread them later and quickly become entirely enthralled with the world again i hope that this trend never fails me. i hope i love these books until the end of my days.
the second is that while i might not be as entertained with trials of apollo, i’ve come to realize that’s okay. i still am going to finish them, but i don’t have to be as obsessed with them as i am the original series. they have brought some very nice realizations to my understandings of some of the characters, and some arch’s will forever be as close to my heart as some of the greats. just because i can’t stand meg or apollo doesn’t mean that the next books are bad continuations. i’m excited to see what comes next of them too.
lastly, it is SO PAINFUL rereading some of the things in these books WHEN YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. no spoils, but wow i almost cried for many different reasons this time through.
so thanks rick, for giving a girl a world to escape to whenever she needs.
