Doris Simkins’ Eggnog Recipe:
• 1 dozen farm-fresh eggs • 1 pound Confectioners’ sugar • 8 pints whipping cream • 1 quart whiskey • 1 pint brandy • 1 shot rum Whip the eggs. Slowly add the sugar. Add the cream. Add the liquor. Lightly whip--not too much, otherwise it’ll get super-thick. Bottle up, refrigerate, & enjoy. Makes 2 gallons.

Getting ready for our Christmas Eve party.....Fish House punch. 2 bottles rum, 1 bottle cognac, 2 quarts fresh brewer green tea, 1 pint lemon juice, 1/2 pint peach brandy, 1/2 pint maraschino liquer, 1 cup sugar (not the 1lb called for in the recipe)....and my secret ingredient - a bottle of last year’s batch! for lunch and once again I’m just amazed at the delicious, rich, and nutty sesame flavored broth. Today I chose the TAN TAN sesame ramen. I think I’m on a mission to consume every type of ramen in the joint.
📍Ganko Ittetsu Ramen, Brookline | I usually have the spicy miso but today I decided to be spontaneous and have the Hokkaido Style Shio Ramen instead. The broth is flavorful, hearty, and refreshing at once. The ramen is just the right texture. Black garlic oil lends that hint of roasted garlic mild bitterness that I like. Exactly what I needed on this breezy winter day in New England.
