Did you know this? That this is biblical?
When I was younger, I had no idea this was in the Bible. I was a loving person, but I didn’t fully grasp that if I loved the Lord, I also must love others...consistently. Biblically, I couldn’t get away with holding grudges, refusing to forgive, behaving bitterly toward someone even if, by my standards, they deserved it. Those things aren’t part of God’s directives.
So if we profess to love God, we must also LIVE LOVE toward others. They don’t all have to be our best friends and closest confidantes, but we must love them as God has laid out in His Word. If we’re not loving others and we regularly judge, resent, and withhold kindness, then we need to question the authenticity and depth of our love for God.
Every person we meet is loved by Him. Not one is a mistake or disposable or worthless, no matter what they’ve done. And so, when we look into their eyes, we should see a son or daughter of God who is loved deeply by Him and is deserving of our kindness.
Think on that today. There was a day when that was news to me. I hope it helps as you deal with others who sometimes can be hard to love. If we love God, we must love His children.
Happy Tuesday! 💜
