We are extremely excited to announce that we are co-branding our first boxing gloves with @combatcorner
and they are now available for preorder in our site! #LinkInBio
gloves are by far the best we have used. They have great padding, fit great and feel great. We urge you to try on our pair during your next training session.
1. PERRY - A great defense when you’re just within range. Catch the jab in the palm of the hand simply deflecting and knocking the jab off course. The key here is to not reach to perry. Doing so will leave you open if your opponent were to bait you with a feint, then come in with a hook instead of the jab.
2. SLIP - A slip is a good defense when you’re well within range of being hit with the jab, although it takes lots of practice and great timing. Ideally you want to slip to the outside of a jab. The main goal is to get your head off center line. I like to coach the slip with a slight lead shoulder turn as well as loading the back leg slightly. This will set you up nicely for an effective counter right hand (left hand for a southpaw).
3. BLOCK - the easiest defense, but also effective as long as you have a high guard. Try not raising the lead arm or glove too much so you’re not exposing your ribs. You want to cover as much real estate as possible with your hands, arm and elbow at all times. Additionally, you can turn away from the lunch slightly, taking the sting off the punch. “When all else fails, double guard!” - @coachchadrick
