Do you have that annoying family member who likes to take random pics and videos when you aren’t looking ?
————————————————————————-😂I just totally described myself! Here are my husband and brother relaxing at a spa in Reno last year, not realizing I’m taking pics for my own amusement 😂😂 .
———————————————————————-But seriously....On Friday I had this huge to-do list and I accomplished only 1/4 of it this weekend, if that. But it’s ok. Sometimes a little weekend relaxation of lounging on the couch, laughing with my husband over all of the silly videos I take of him, and going to sleep by 9pm is exactly what I need. 😴 🛏 💤 ———————————————————————-Are you the type of person who gets more done on the weekend or is that your chill time?

Who is liable for long term brain damage? It depends on your clout.
When these dudes retire and have domestic violence issues, some people think CTE is to blame and that the NFL is liable.
Of course the insurance industry is thoroughly ready to respond, this was your fault as an athlete and you comprehend voluntary risk.
But that’s not important today, let him cross that bridge when he retires in 10 years completely drained.
Today we celebrate breaking records

Hot/cold effect: Two of the most interesting and potentially important research findings concern temperature and criminal behavior. When asked to judge a criminal’s behavior, a person in a hot room was more likely to characterize the criminal as hot-tempered and his behavior as spontaneous. A person in a cold room would probably see the same criminal as cold-blooded and his behavior as premeditated. Obviously, that could have a profound effect on the outcome of a trial or sentencing.
Brain decoder: Experts assume that the same parts of the brain are activated whether you’re reading silently, listening to someone speak, or thinking to yourself. “If you’re reading text in a newspaper or a book, you hear a voice in your own head,” said Brian Pasley of the University of California, Berkeley. “We’re trying to decode the brain activity related to that voice to create a medical prosthesis that can allow someone who is paralyzed or locked in to speak.”
Marble hand illusion: Researchers have conducted a lot of experiments to determine how our brains sense our bodies and our positions in space. Usually, they test the impact of visual cues on our perception. But in an unusual experiment, researchers tested the effect of sound and touch on our perception of the material that makes up our bodies. Specifically, the scientists wanted to see if participants would believe that a body part consisted of an inanimate material.
The compassion pill: We usually think of pills as tools to fight disease. However, researchers at the University of California found that they could manipulate a person’s level of compassion by altering the chemical makeup of the brain. That suggests that social behavior may be influenced by biology more than we previously believed.
Extreme isolation: The most disturbing effects appear to be mental. Extreme isolation, such as that of solitary confinement, can wreak havoc with the mind. From slowing time to hallucinations to deliberate brainwashing, the effects can be devastating.
The Mucgurk effect:We use our vision to help us figure out what we’re hearing. But sometimes, that steers us wrong. If you hear someone say “ba,” but they look like they’re

Do you use MCT oil?
Example of a simple Keto meal. 😋
Wild-caught Atlantic salmon with capers cooked in a lemon butter sauce, sautéed zucchini in grass-fed butter, some @wildfoodsco
MCT oil (use code “WILDJOSH12” for a discount), and some @redmondrealsalt
I love simple yet nutritionally dense and satisfying meals that fill me up while feeling light, not stuffed and lazy like I used to feel, and energized for my days.
Adding in the MCT oil is a great way to help those beginning a ketogenic diet transition through the Keto-adaptation process as well as just all around great quality fat.
Some benefits are extra ketone production, which feeds the brain and increases mental clarity and performance, sustained energy, increased fat-burning, and helps add in the fat required to reach nutritional ketosis if you can’t fathom what and where to add in more fat.
When I first began my keto journey, adding MCT oil to my meals and coffee helped me get the extra fats in for the proper required macro nutrient intake.

Chocolate Anyone?!🤔🖐🏻☝️🤚... we all love chocolate 😍...The good news is .... YES!! It’s good for you....But which one is the best for your health?... how much of it you should have?....why is it good for you and specially for your brain? .
.Let’s talk about this week Genius food:Dark chocolate #geniusfoods
.Cocoa beans is among the richest natural food sources of magnesium (which is essentiel for 100’s of biochemical reactions in the body,it can lower blood pressure, help prevent migraines, reduces insulin resistance, improves PMS symptoms, fights depression, enhances sport performance...)
.Cocao it’s very rich in flavanols ( which reverse signs of cognitive aging, improve insulin sensitivity, vascular function and blood flow to the brain )
.But not all chocolate are made the same...to get the benefits make sure:
-the cocoa has not been processed with alkali or Dutch processing ( check the label right next to cocoa on the ingredients list)
-to choose a chocolate with the minimum sugar and a high % of cocoa... above 80%😬 ( white and milk chocolate are just candy)
-how much of it ....
- for the health benefits...a bar per........week is enough🤣
.Enjoy... in moderation😊

Cortisol is essential for many bodily systems to function properly, however when cortisol levels are chronically elevated, you run into issues throughout your mind and body. Minor lifestyle changes, proper nutrition, assessing for vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and at times the addition of adaptogens are all very effective at lowering elevated cortisol. #cortisol #holistichealing #holisticnutritionist #adaptogens #nourishedlife #health #brainhealth

💡According to a study, the flavonoids found in cacao “protect neurons from damage and promote memory, learning and cognitive function.”
It can take a lifetime.
It’s a constant daily practice.
I don’t know when that voice in your head shows up that makes you start to question everything and bring you down.
I am sure it’s shaped by the people you surround yourself with, your upbringing, your past experiences. It could be a million triggering statements but enough is enough.
It took a lifetime to build those negative condescending thoughts in your brain and now we’re going to spend the duration of your time here changing those thoughts.
I am not saying it has to be the best day of your life in your brain at all times.(trust me this is not going to happen) But it is a small conscious shift to have more of the good than the bad. I have been working at this for a while and there are times of major relapses but I keep going.
You are powerful beyond measure and until you start telling yourself that you will not amount to your potential and trust me you have SO much potential. ➖

Sunday afternoon refresher on what to focus on when it comes to fuel. [Tips & Contest]
for a little nudge on what to focus on - hosted by @merc.hall
How not to overcomplicate things:
1️⃣ focus on the good stuff (top right pic)
2️⃣ track your macros (at least for a few days) - that way you have an idea of what you’re actually eating.
3️⃣ identify where you may be wasting time. Think of 3 things that hinder your goals. You don’t necessarily have to delete them from your life immediately. But start thinking about how to improve.
For those of you who still want to join the 12 week transformation contest with prize, Private Facebook Group access, and accountability for the last quarter of the year - it’s not too late to join Mercedes, email her - info@CrossFitGT.ca

5 of my top supplements for brain repair and maintenance. I understand there are a host of supplements for this category but these 5 top my list for general population purposes for the reasons below:
1) Lion's Mane - This ancient Chinese medicinal mushroom is one of the most potent natural herbal extracts (and may be the most potent) in its ability to promote Nerve Growth Factor. It does not directly increase neurotransmitters. Rather, it promotes thee myelination and repair of damaged neurons and nerve endings and may be useful in prevention neurodegeneration.
2) Uridine Monophosphate (or Triacetyluridine) - One of the building blocks of RNA. Uridine carries the instructions from DNA to synthesize proteins to form new cell membranes and connections in the brain. This one is particularly useful for those who have done damage to their dopamine system and are in need of repair.
3) Alpha Lipoic Acid - ALA serves a couple of functions. However, its purpose as a brain repair/maintenence ingredient lie in its ability to restore antioxidant levels in the brain (vitamin C & E, glutathione, coenzyme Q10). This one likely serves as a good supplement to take regularly for athletes in contact sports, as it could potentially lessen the damage following TBI.
4) PQQ (pyrroloquinoline quinone) - PQQ scavenges free radicals in the brain, as well as increases nerve growth factor. Its most interesting function comes in its ability to boost the activity and amount of mitochondria in the brain. More mitochondria = More cellular energy in the brain = enhanced cognition, plain and simple.
5) Phosphatidylcholine - The most abundant phospholipid in the in the brain. Phosphatidylcholine is what the outside of cell membranes in the brain are primarily made of. An abundance of phosphatidylcholine allows the brain to use what it needs to rebuild cells, while using the remainder for acetylcholine production.

I often wonder:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
+ who first thought — hey, let's eat this raw oyster? seriously. he must have been desperate! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
+ why are they called French fries if they’re really from Belgium? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
+ Rhode Island... it's not really a road nor an island? (who else saw this SNL skit!)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
if your curiosity is anything like mine, you might have wondered something similar. and if your musings happened to involve how I managed to travel cross-country with our twins, the Gillies, our two geriatric dogs... and kept my gut in check!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
well, today’s the day I’m sharing 3 key insights: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. map out your destination + plan where you will be stopping for meals⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. keep an eye on your hydration... seriously. most folks skimp out on water + reach for caffeinated beverages while traveling. and I totally get it, since I just drove 2400 miles across the beautiful US of A. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. don't skimp on sleep. bunker down for the night. don't try to be a hero and push through with driving all night. take a beat. get some good quality sleep + start fresh the next day. you'll drive safer... your immune system will be top notch... and let's be real. you will be nicer.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
more tidbits are up on the blog... check link in bio! I got you covered, love... but if need answers NOW-- FIRE AWAY!
It’s one of my favourite times of the year! ✈️
* Today I’m flying to Pheonix, Arizona, to attend the 26th Annual ISNR conference (International Society for Neurofeedback Research). I’ve been attending this conference religiously for the last 5 years, and without fail I return home each year feeling like my own brain is about to burst with the all of the new knowledge and research I learn.
*Working within the field of the neurofeedback can be overwhelming at times. There are many different approaches to neurofeedback and our knowledge of the brain is constantly evolving, meaning there is forever something new to learn. Having the opportunity to travel to the USA every year and speak with other renowned clinicians who have been doing this for many more years than I, it is reassuring to hear that even the world pioneers feel that way. The human brain is the most complex system on our planet, and sometimes I struggle to accept that we don’t know everything. There are so many unanswered questions related to this mystical organ between our ears. But overriding the overwhelm, it feels so exciting and I’m immensely grateful to be involved in this fascinating field of neurofeedback and brain enhancement. I can’t wait to see what the next week has in store! 🧠🧠🧠

☁️☁️☁️October to April: the time of the year when there is simply not enough natural sunlight in the UK for the body to produce vitamin D.
Beyond effects on bone health, vitamin D3 exerts effects on a variety of target organs, including the brain. Indeed, it appears crucial to maintain vitamin D concentrations at sufficiently high levels in order to slow, prevent, or improve neurocognitive decline. Supplementary vitamin D has a beneficial role in neurocognition and optimal brain health that recent studies have started to identify.
That’s why we’ve included vitamin D3 in our daytime nootropic, Power Up, at a daily dosage of 25 micrograms.
Happy brain, rain or shine.
Building brain reserve. You can build new brain cells by moving your body. Cardiovascular exercise spawns the growth of new neurons and the stimulation of environmental enrichment helps those cells survive Growing new brain cells is so important because all neurodegenerative diseases are caused by dying or damaged neurons. Now neuroscientists are-discovering that the brain has built in countermeasures to grow new cells. The birth of new cells is called neurogenesis We must all engage in a proactive healthy brain lifestyle. Your brain contains your identity, your very being, your potential for future development or perhaps the innovation or idea that will forever change the lives of millions. There is no greater untapped resource in the universe than your brain. Go out today and get your blood pumping and help your brain function at its best

Relationships, personal or professional rely on a foundation of positive reassurance.
Recognition for minor positive acts is often unexpected and thus, giving and receiving such has profound impact on sustained relationship dynamics.
What does that mean? Say thank you. Say it often. Be specific. Humans will always go above and beyond when their efforts are positively recognized. The perpetuation of gratitude begins with you.

When you continue to feed your mind with negative messages, your brain 🧠 starts to actually adapt to the messages you're feeding it! It doesn't know how to choose what to follow and what to ignore.
YOU are the author of your book and YOU decide what fills the pages. 💯 💜
You can feed your mind negative messages or feed it a buffet of positive messages - it's your choice.
I talk about this in my book Unbreakable but to change your body, you need to change your narrative. 🙌🏽 This is also true for my #ttcsisters

One of the biggest things in helping individuals maximize their wellness (especially emotional wellness), is looking at their diet and healthy fat sources. .
There was a large craze in the 90s to remove fat from the diet, but this is merely a debunked myth. Healthy fat sources are key in your body’s health. How might his show up for a person? Menstrual issues? Anxiety? Brain fog? Emotional roller coasters? Thyroid issues? Lethargy? Craving potato chips? Brittle nails and hair?
Healthy fats are proper fuel for our body. Unfortunately, we can train our body to function on sugar, which causes chronic crashes in energy.
Taking vitamins, but not noticing a difference?! There are a few reasons that could be, but if it is a high quality vitamin, it could be because you need fat to help you absorb certain nutrients, such as fat-soluble vitamins (vitamins A, D, E and K) and antioxidants. .
Want to keep al your cells running properly?! They need fat, the good kind ;) Fat is important in giving your cells structure.
Healthy fats are important for optimum nerve, brain and heart function. .
Healthy fats can be added into various areas. Cooking with coconut oil, adding MCT oils to your smoothie or coffee in the morning. Flax seed oil on your salad. Avocados in your food dishes. Boom! My daughter gets the children’s IQ mega supplement to help out while my husband and I take the XEOmegas. .

Did you know that cell phones and EMF's are MORE harmful for children?
"Children absorb double the radiation than an adult brain. Their bone marrow is 10 TIMES more absorbable than adults!
Other countries have actually BANNED cell phone use in children. Is Israel, they saw a 20% increase in parotid gland cancer, so the Israeli association put out a ban because most that were affected were children."
