The Importance of Swell Period.
Swell period is a key wave predictor and is defined as the time required for one complete wave length to pass a fixed point. Nearly all swell you’re likely to see will range from 4 to 22 seconds. Usually, the time is measured between two successive wave crests, but measuring from trough to trough would also yield the same result. Swell period is a defining characteristic of a swell, and a surfer who disregards swell period could find his/herself in surf that is disappointingly smaller or dangerously stronger than anticipated. "People will come to love their oppression, to adore the technologies that undo their capacities to think."

knowing it was written almost a century ago.
Our new episode is up, Readers. This time Dexter leads the discussion on the classic Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. Shit gets rough with this one given the subject matter, so be aware of that. #LivingintheStacks #NewEpisode #BraveNewWorld #AldousHuxley
This little lady just took her first flight! Sadly, this is where I leave her. Moving to Los Angeles on Saturday. #WishMeLuck #BraveNewWorld

Today's treats. The book came with 3D glasses, which is marvellous. There was also a twirl, but I ate it.

This was yesterday, a few minutes before his first day of primary school education. Today he skipped down the tiny hill between our street and the school-yard, happy as they come and full of anticipation. It’s a big thing, starting school and this year is the first year in Swedish history where school at age six is compulsory, so I guess him and his classmates are also part of making history. Now, the new first year have the same learning content and the same books as the second year students, which means Oliver can finally get stuck into the learning he’s been waiting for. Born ready, that’s our Oliver ✌🏻#primaryschool #education #ready #firstyear #bravenewworld #newfriends #learning #play #childhood
"Noi" di Evgenij Zamjatin, 1924.
▪"E tu quale ultima rivoluzione vuoi?

Beberapa karya fiksi maupun non-fiksi ditelurkan olehnya. Bahkan nama salah satu band legendaris asal Amerika, The Doors, terinspirasi dari salah satu judul bukunya--The Doors Of Perception.

We as "Conspiracy Theorist" often catch a bad break bc we use the term "They" a lot. And to the credit of the skeptic State worshiper, much of the time the Conspiracy Theorist actually hasnt the first idea who "they" are. Well this post is here to shed light on that in a simple meme.
However, for all my researchers and and Realist who need evidence to back their claims of a highly organized secret society with tentacles reaching into every level of government in the United States and indeed, the world, backed by massive financing and run by men of the highest education and intelligence, with vast resources at their disposal, manages the thousands of major political and economical and contrived situations. In the FOURTH EDITION of CONSPIRATORS' HIERARCHY: THE STORY OF THE THE COMMITTEE OF 300 there is listed some very prominent men who came forward to support the existence of the “300.” One of them predicted twenty years ago that “The United States will be turned into a welfare state” and that “with the exception of Russia all nations would unite in a world alliance (The One World Government).” Perhaps the most startling admission of the existence of the super-secret organization came from President Wilson in the last days of his presidency: “Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacturing, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere, so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.” The “power” Wilson was talking about is the Committee of 300 and Wilson knew he did not dare to mention it by name.

Somwehere along the line this planet has fallen sick, it's children are sick.
They have been dumbed down,
Fed on lollypops and lies by parents, by media, by the leaders.
Their souls are aching,
They are being served fake food, half truths and watered down traditions.
Their hands are bleeding,
From the walls they will never break.
They are perpetually made to wear pink lenses,
So they lie on plastic grass,
And search for flying fishes.
They are waiting for the Brave New World,
But this contamination makes them weak to build it,
they will be dead before they see any glimpse of it.
They are not spoilt or disrespectful, but
Just craving something authentic on a planet that's attentuated in all manners and forms

- Aldous Huxley (Grupo Tavistock, California Medical School, 1961)

In those moments of silence when you close your eyes, just before you fall asleep? .
'Actual happiness always looks pretty squalid in comparision with the overcompensations for misery. And, of course, stability isn't nearly so spectacular as instability. And being contented has none of the glamour of a good fight against misfortune, none of the picturesqueness of a struggle with temptation, or a fatal overthrow by passion or doubt. Happiness is never grand.' A. Huxley 🌹
This book was truly frightening. For a lot of reasons. For its accuracy in this day and age concerning underlying societal/political matters such as eugenics or the explosion of a standardised & universal ''happiness'' achieved partly through the media. Also, the systematic lenifying and softening of one's critical judgement, individuality, as well as the censure of human emotions such as fear or anger is a trend I have observed in the last few years in our westernized societies.
As homogenization becomes the norm, as science brings us closer to perfection and transhumanist hopes appear more & more substantial, we seem to be headed straight for utopia. Some may say this is a good thing. Huxley (and I ) disagrees.. As Nicholas Berdiaeff once said: "Utopias seem to be much more achievable than we formerly believed them to be. Now we find ourselves presented with another alarming question: how do we prevent utopias from coming into existence? …Utopias are possible. Life tends towards the formation of utopias. Perhaps a new century will begin, a century in which intellectuals and the privileged will dream of ways to eliminate utopias and return to a non-utopic society less "perfect" and more free". - after reading this novel, it is clear that a "perfect", standardized society can do nothing but result in an autocracy desguised as a freedom-embracing democracy. Designed so effectively that people end up loving their servitude... which, if the servants are all happy, then all is good with the world right? That's the essential problem authoritarian governments have had with their subjects : how on earth do you make someone love his servitude? Through mass entertainment? Through sex, recreation? Drugs ? Allowing people more freedom? Less working hours? More leisure time? Another version of slavery, just rendered less patent, covered with a gold & shiny gilt?... Sounds familiar, no? ... ANYWAYS , it made me rack my brain about a lot, so I rlly liked it as a whole! Very eye opening...👁 Overall rating : 🌟🌟🌟🌟
