Just some greens to brighten up your morning 😍 . . .
I get a lot of resistance about greens for #breakfast
from clients/patients!?! But why not? 🤷🏻♀️ In fighting the chronic disease epidemic, we need to start thinking outside the cereal box (#seewhatIdidthere
😉) Ever notice how different breakfast food is from lunch or dinner? 🤔 at least I speak for American culture... but I think breakfast is a perfect opportunity to load up on veggies to get your micronutrients and fiber in alongside your protein and healthy fat.
Meanwhile in other parts of the world they continue to eat more traditional foods including fish, legumes, AND vegetables for breakfast. And yes dairy is a part of many ethnic breakfasts, however, it's traditionally fermented and made into kefir, yogurt, cheese, etc. And often not from cows, goat milk for example. (though it's worth mentioning American breakfast is also being exported and choices are changing)
So easy to try greens for breakfast? Still sounds too intimidating? Start by throwing it into your smoothie ... work up to a salad or sauteed vegetables 🥗 topped with lox, Turkey sausage, eggs, or maybe sardines. Don't forget to drizzle olive oil and add avocado 😁 want extra credit? Add fermented veggies like sauerkraut, or pickled daikon and carrot.
Not much time? Make extra salad or roast veggies for dinner - leftovers make a great breakfast 💪🏼😉 #foodiefarmacist #nutritionist #FunctionalMedicine #kitchenfarmacy #healthylifestyle #breakfastlikeaking #foodismedicine
